no likee in rear... LOL!

be more on the quiet side and be respectful. Asians do not like loud people.

yes, no shoes in the house.

give her parents a Red packet with lots of cash in it and you will be Golden.

What the fuck is all this shit?

The bottomline will always be: Boys have penises, girls have vaginas...

Just rush her lil ass to the concrete and get up in dem guts! Let her father talk to her, you put a spark to her...

Straight up pimp! If she's down, it's all good in inglewood. She could be frickin purple for all i care as long as she has a good heart, cool personality, is chill, and easy on the eyes.

Anyway, I can't say things aren't a little bit different culturally, but it's something new and interesting, and I am looking forward to meeting his family (although I'm a bit nervous to meet his mom, haha). There is always going to be a learning curve when you meet someone's family, no matter what race they belong to, so it's just some more stuff to get used to.

My BF's family came here from Taiwan several years ago. His dad came first and got established, then brought the rest of the family over when my BF was about 14 (he's now 32).
Taiwanese parents are cool, they are more "modern" than the China parents.
I think the Taiwanese assimilated better to American culture than their China counterparts.

His parents also don't care if he brings home a girl from a different race, and I'm not the first white girl he's dated, so it should go over ok. I hope. I really like this guy and want things to work out.

This weekend at a restaurant I saw this Asian guy with a caucasian woman and her parents.
The parents looked so stoic, not one smile all through dinner.
I felt so bad for the guy because he looked happy and like he was really trying to make conversation.

You went all the way to Toronto to meet this girl?

Canadian-Chinese (local born) are no different than American-Chinese.

I think you'll be fine acting like yourself. If you tell her Chinese places to eat or learn some Mandarin phrases ... that'll win points for both her parents and the girl. If you ever watch Mainland Chinese TV, some of the most famous comedians are a pair of white dudes who speak perfect Mandarin (they must have married Chinese women and moved back to China); there's also a black dude who also speaks great Mandarin (and it embarrasses the hell out of me 'cause I speak horrible Mandarin)

PS What part of Toronto are you staying? I would suggest "Susur" (601 King St W) before the master chef Susur Lee leaves for NYC to open up a new restaurant. Try the 'tasters menu' (will cost $$$ per person) but it is a culinary masterpiece.

Yellow Fever.

There's two types of Asian parents.

Parents who love polite and well mannered (innocent) men, or parents that love you for your money.

And props for your dedication. Houston to Toronto? A friend of mine (used to live here) who lives in Toronto wants me to come visit her in the summer and meet her parents, and spend "quality" time with her. Am I going? No.

I can't deal with long distance relationships anymore.

But then again, age difference, you probably can afford it, while me, I just want to be able to have someone within grasp.

Good luck with the new girl. She seems worth it if you're willing to fly that far for her.

We are actually in Detroit area. We just went to Toronto for an overnight trip and stayed at the Sheridan Center on Queen St. Btw, she speaks Cantonese. Anyways, we had a lot of fun.

Detroit area? Hell, you passed by Windsor to get to TO.

Glad you had fun.

I'm just starting to find out some good places to eat in the Metro Detroit area. Went to a Korean place up in Novi (Korea House) -- my wife and I were the only non-Koreans in the house. That was the second time that people randomly started speaking to me in Korean, assuming I would understand.

Since interracial relationships seem to be a hot topic in the forums (recently), I might as well put in my

I have NEVER dated within my race (Latino). Two of my ex's are Asian (one Chinese, the other Chinese-Filipino) and one was white (eight years my senior).

It was a mixed bag. The Chinese girl was on the fast track (wanted to get serious right away, get married, etc.) and the Chinese-Filipino chick was simply a fuckin' nutcase (high maintenance from the word "go"). The older white chick was straight up dirty (as in her house and car was straight up messy, she actually bathed).

I've been a relationship for the past three months with a white girl. Things are going really well, but I have this nagging fear that certain cultural differences will torpedo our relationship. Nothing has come up yet, but it's strange. Even though we've been together for only three months, we have such good chemistry that it seems like we've been with each other much longer.

While we have much in common with our value systems, there are slight differences that could be magnified if this relationship turns much more serious. For example, take family. Much like many other Latin families, I have a close-knit family. Hers, not so much. In fact, there seems to be considerable distance between my girl's family and her parents.

I don't know. I feel a little lost, in that I feel anxious about the relationship one moment, then the next moment I'm telling myself "Take it easy, one day at a time". Thoughts, anyone? Fuck! Women, can't live w/ 'em, can't live w/out 'em.
