Sweet potatos

Anyone eat sweet potatoes? One of my favorite foods, and I'm the only one I know that eats them. I don't understand why they aren't more popular. Much better than regular potatoes for just about everything IMO.

Anyone have any interesting baked ideas besides smothering them with butter and sugar?

I have 3 in my fridge right now.

I bake them on 350 for 90 minutes, then just eat them like a banana.

If any mods swing through here, can you add an 'e' to potatoes in the thread title please. Driving me nuts.

Season them and make sweet potato fries. Make dipping sauce if you want to too.

Awesome way to go. If you have a silicone baking sheet this works out to a nice crispy exterior and a moist interior.

You can also cut rounds and nuke them to par cook, then grill to finish.

Either way, Sweet Taters FTW

peel them and boil them till they're almost done
slice them an put them in a pyrex baking dish
pour maple syrup over them and heat for another 10-15 minutes on low heat.

I like them baked, no sugar/syrup or butter, or fried, I don't think I've ever had a sweet potato prepared in a fashion I didn't like it. My parents sometimes bake them, skin them, cut them up, mash them with brown sugar, butter and a little cinnamon put them in a casserole dish and bake for a while, pretty good but a little too much effort for me to make for myself.

Also try what iTimmy said about mashing them. I also add chunked canned pineapple in them too. Yummy.

Good recipe I found for sweet potatoes:

Cut em in half (lengthwise)
Season with ground pepper, season salt, and garlic powder
Fire up grill and once preheated (350°F-400°F) place aluminum foil on grill
throw on potatoes flesh down and grill for 15-20 minutes flipping twice.

Really easy and man are they good. My girl likes to put al ittle sour cream on them afterwards. Not really into the sour cream so I eat mine plan. I might have to make them this weekend now
