Dude, I go to Ray's Pizza Across from ESPN zone and there is a NY Pizza in Vinings I go to. Everything else here is imitations of NY Pizza. Even Vito's is not there.

I feel you pain.

haha... Most people south of NJ won't sell it by the slice, you have to buy the whole pie. Forget about making it right, they don't even sell it right

I have been to Ray's as well.

I will say two things.

1) It is as close as it gets.

2) It isn't even close.

Problem 1. They use 'sweet sauce'. Pizza is SALTY!!!

Problem 2. They have an extra-large. No such animal. You are allowed only a med (6 slicer) or a large (8 slicer). If you are really an animal, you are allowed to go to Seaside and get the three bros 26 incher, which will kill you with happiness.

Totally with you. In addition, we would only allow APPROVED patrons into the joint, and only after they can successfully give the correct ingredients to an Italian Sub...

I feel better knowing that I am not alone...

ive had some good pizza when i was in miami, forget where tho. im not exactly a pizza pro.

along the same lines as devnull and sick, in addition to correctly identifying the ingredients in an italian sub they would also have to identify a randomly chosen car part. only then should full admittion to the pizza/car place be given.

Don't even tell me you can't get a decent Italian Sub (grinder in RI/MA) down there.

Next thing you'll be telling me that you can't get coney island hot dogs either

This thread is making me hungry....

I miss NY. At our neighborhood deli, the family was cool with the guy, buy subs all month and pay at the end. The meat was priceless. Great bread. Just the right fixings.

Down here eveything is so non-personal. Subway. Blimpie. etc. I'd rather a publix sub but they can't figure out how to cut the bread and they add way to many onions.

SPF Changs is so popular here and I think a blind German born in India under United Kingdom control back in the 40s could make a better imitation. The ambiance is cool, the food is not bad, but it is not Chinese food. Far from it.

Okay, no more about CHinese. We vent in another thread later.

You can get Sabretts in Costco wholesale club...that's where I buy mine.

I'm suprised there are no Italian markets in Atlanta that carry Corando Italian meats...mortadella, genoa salami, imported ham & hot cappacola. We can buy that in the grocery store in BumFuk DE. Hell, I think Costco sells that too...

"And that's the hardest part. Today, everything is different. There's no action. I have to wait around like everyone else. Can't even get decent food. Right after I got here I ordered some spaghetti with marinara sauce and I got egg noodles and ketchup. (He stares directly at the camera.) I'm an average nobody. I get to live the rest of my life like a schnook."

I got some of the best Falafel I've ever had from a street cart in NYC. You can't beat the Northeast for food (except Mexican).

The very mention of chicago style pizza disqualifies you, but I do appreciate the thought!

Best pizza in Philly...
Tacconelli's
2604 E Somerset St
Philadelphia, PA 19134
Phone: (215) 425-4983

BYOB pizzeria that's so in demand you have to reserve your own dough.

The Scene
In a neighborly block of Port Richmond, this family-style pizzeria is so popular it asks customers to call a day ahead to reserve pizza dough. Once you get inside, you'll find a jukebox filled with Italian and lounge-hall favorites, plus tables and booths fashioned to fit a few generations. Watch the pizza makers sling the pies deep into the oven with an enormous pizza peel.

The Food
Reserving your dough may seem like a gimmick, but once you bite into your pie you'll be glad some slackers' pizzas weren't crowding the oven. The pie's thin crust and interesting combination of toppings are the draw here, especially the white pizza. Try the garlicky white pie with spinach and ripe tomatoes. Red lovers should go for peppers and onions. And don't be surprised if you have to wait; this is not a place that likes to rush.

I tried Chicago style pizza, it wasnt too bad. But the crust is a bit excessive, and they dont tell you to use olive oil on it to make it softer.

I would definately get a cheese steak before a slice of pizza anyday.

Don't try to order a cheesesteak in Chicago...you won't like what they give you. They call it "Italian Beef"...it's like a roast beef sandwich with oregano & provolone...definitely NOT a cheesesteak. I almost pissed my drawers when I saw what they gave me...

Yes, that isn't as thick as Chicago style and is tolerable, but thin is the way to go...at least for me.
