KitchenAid Stand Mixers

I have had the 5qt Pro for over 10 years.
It is heavier duty and is worth the money.
If you plan on using any of the attachments (Meat grinder, sausage stuffer, pasta extruders) you will need the juice.
PM me if you wnat any details on uses for the mixer.
I make Pizza dough
CC cookies
batters
meringues
sausage
pasta dough and shaped
It does everything in the kitchen, and is my countertop workhorse.
I did culinary and use my equipment more than most, so to have held up relatively trouble free is a testament to the quality.

Had one since I've been married (over seven years) and my wife uses it all the time. If you're gonna use it, they're worth it.
Since we first got it, we've bought a lot of the attachments and they get used quite a bit.

We've had one for over 2.5 years.... sitting in my parents garage because we don't have the space for it
My parents are on their second one after using the first one for over 15 years. The original didn't die, I think they just needed another one for some of their baking marathons.

we had a couple at the bakery I used to work at. I used them mostly for smaller cookie recipies. we had an industrial sized mixer for large batches/bread, etc.
I preferred the model where the bowl twist locked onto the base, and had the tilting head, over the one that lifts the bowl up. I think it was the smaller one. not sure why I preferred that one, but I think it felt more stable, and easier to work with cause there were less moving parts. Probably just personal preference, but it easier for me to use. But i think it was smaller, so if you need the extra capacity i'm sure it'd come in handy at some point.
I never used any of the front attachments as we didn't do any meat grinding and had a separate rolling machine as well.
I've always kinda wanted to buy one, since they were really easy and fun to use at a bakery, but I just don't do enough baking/cooking to really justify needing one.

She's gonna love it Steve, my wife was given one for a Wedding present, 12yrs ago. If was about $300 then, but smaller. I got tried of watching her having to make two batches a few months ago and bought her the 6qt one, it's a beast. Sold the old one for $50 to someone at her work.

I read your post as the page was loading, I got from it... It's hard to find used casings.

Ground 35# of pork and made Italian sausage last month.
The extruders are awesome. The cutters make spaghetti or fettuccini. I usually just roll the sheets and cut tagliatele.

Well, bought one after looking 100x for amazon to lower pricing. They changed the pricing like every few hours and they went in and out of stock.
Finally got one for 299 after rebate. i think it was the pearl metallic. Now i just need to remember to cancel the amazon prime before 30 days

And you can set your Prime account to not automatically renew. That's what I did and I think it just stopped the other day.

the message on their site says
Refunds are not available once benefits have been used. You can continue enjoying your Prime benefits until the end of the current period without being further charged by setting your membership to "Do not renew" above.
does that mean if i cancel, that i will not get my $79 back?

I did a free trial period, then it said $19/month. I didn't let it renew, so I never got charged.

Amazon Prime is SO worth it. I've been doing it over two years now. When it comes to books, music, electronics, damn near everything I order from them. I get it in two days and I don't have to go to a store looking to see if they have it.

The sizzle in the Steak
So my mixer stopped spinning.....time to see what's broken.
Opened her up and found the culprit: Nylon worm gear (designed to fail to protect the motor) is worn out after years of trouble free service. Ordered $10 replacement gear..should be here next week...and she should be good as new!
Fixing stuff for $10 >>>>>>>>> than buying a new machine for hundreds of dollars.
BTW...these mixers are constructed very well.

Nice pics! I agree, for a measly $10 that is a great DIY.
I have the heavy duty one, love it. I make cookies, pasta, grind meat, make bread, all kinds of stuff. I bought the meat grinder and the pasta attachments.
