I made the bacon explosion

Well fells I did it. Made the bacon explosion today as I said I will. It was well worth it, it was very good.

Took about an hour to prepare, and 3 hours to cook. 2.5 hrs in the oven at 225 and about 20-30 minutes on the grill on LOW as I was adding some bbq sauce.

Here are the pictures. Sorry, I do not have a nice camera...

It fed 5 of us. No one was TOO full and no one needed more. I used 2 lb of bacon and 2 lb of Italian sausage. It was a little spicy for some, because of the italian sausage. If you are not a big fan of italian sausage, get polish sausage instead.

I'll let the pics talk for themselves:

You are fucking awesome. Not only do you actually search for old threads, but you take making food seriously.

See, now I don't know if you're being sarcastic. I know you don't like the whole bacon thing but I know that you like to cook.

Hmm

Thank you for all the comments. It actually was a ton of fun, it was me and another friend during production.
I made the explosion, he made some really good burgers. We put bacon into the ground beef, along with a lot of other things that we chopped up.

i want to try to make this soon, but have a few questions. How much baon do you use for the weave, and how would I make it perfectly? Also, can I buy italian sausage at the sotre & remove the casing? Thanks

Any good store or deli will have italian sausage uncased. It isn't difficult to remove the casings but it is easier to just buy without them in the first place.

BTW, this will be the first time I've had bacon in two months. I just got back from the store, and getting ready to start.

I used about a pound on the weave. It was kind of a pain to make it tight but just play with it. I went to the local deli and they took the italian sausage out of the casings. Again - if you are not a fan of spicy food, get polish sausage instead.

Good luck!
