How long is frozen chicken good for?
I bought some chicken breasts and put them in the freezer two months ago. The packaging has never been opened. I just forgot about it and saw it the other day.
Is it still good to eat? Or should I throw it out?

You should be fine. IIRC, properly wrapped and frozen meat will last for up to two years (beef, anyway).
If I don't remember correctly, ...

That post doesn't mention taste, which may degrade after a few months-- but the food is still safe to eat for many months...

I want to say I've read frozen chicken is good for about 6 months as long as its never been thawed. I usually buy boneless skinless chicken breasts from BJ's Wholesale and freeze them. As I live alone, it'll take 2 or 3 months for me to eat all of them. I've never had a problem. Only thing I've noticed is that if I thaw them in the microwave after they've been in there for a while they tend to dry out when I cook them. But if I throw them in the fridge 2 or 3 days before I cook them, they're fine.

It'll be fine. The stuff I get from BJ's does come in sealed freezer bags. Its not frozen when I buy it, its just packaged to be frozen. But before I got my membership I'd just buy 3 or 4 packs when it went on sale at Publix or Albertson's. I'd freeze it in the store package and it was fine for a few months.

I buy the huge yellow perdue plates at sams and probably use about half when I make chicken. I let it thaw in the kitchen sink (in plastic bagging) and then split in in half, I freeze the other half and cook the other. Usually I use it within 2 months, but it'll be ok for upto 3, then it starts to loose it's flavor.
I just take it out of the freezer and stick it in the fridge the night before, and then let it that in the kitchen sink once again for a few hours until thawed enough to dice up. This way it doesn't dry out, and absorbs the full flavor. Also warming up chicken in the microwave will make it chewy and rubbery, Bad idea....

I buy the 8 packs of legs and 8 packs of drums at Costco. We'll cut out what we need the night before and let it sit in the fridge and it'll be ready by the next day. As for OP's question I can't help, meat rarely lasts a month in my house.

Good for well over 6 months if packaged properly. The main issue is freezer burn (moisture loss), which can be overcome by wrapping in foil and then placing the package in a zip top baggie to assure no transfer of smells in the freezer (and no punctures in the foil).
No worries.

It's fine, the packaging doesn't matter, what matters is that it's frozen and the bacterias growth rate is slowed to a near standstill. I'd eat it, and have eaten chicken frozen like that many times. If you want some kind of scientific answer ask Terry, he raises chickens, so i'm sure he knows some trade secrets.
