I just got a media center PC. I have had an XBox for a long time. Looks cool!! Can you give me a little more info as to what exactly you did or how you hook up the Xbox to the PC?

THanks

xbmc is not connected to your PC, its on the xbox it self. the only time u would connect to a PC if if you wanted to pull files from a share (divx, mp3, jpegs....)

Been using it for over a year its awesome

From the xbmc FAQ

Q: Can I use/run Xbox Media Center on a retail Xbox without a modchip installed in it?
A: Yes, there are some pre-coded hacks (software mods) to run XBMC unchipped, but we do not support how-to use them, (recommend you visit www.xbox-scene.com for HOW-TO mod). PS! It is very unlikely that XBMC will ever run on unhacked Xboxes, (we have once contacted Microsoft about the possibility to sign XBMC but we were regretfully rejected) Note! We do not support HOW-TO install/use a software mod or HOW-TO install/use Xbox hardware mod-chips.

its not from MS, its an opensource project made with an illegal copy of the xbox development kit. consequently you wont find it for sale or for download directly from their site. ive been running it on my xbox for like 2 years now, you can even stream stuff over your home network to your xbox

Also, with this, can you browse specific MP3 folders on your PC like a media hub does? I have 30+ gigs of MP3s and need to find a way to network them into the stereo, but don't want to pay 200+ for a media hub. Using my already networked xbox would be perfect!

That's what XLink Kai is for. It supports pretty much all system link enabled games and it's FREE. Better than Xbox Live IMO.

This shit is old news...(the xmc)

Anyway, not to sound lame but with the new xbox live! banning taking place against modded xbox's, I don't think it's wise to mod your xbox if you considered playing on Live!

And yes, you will still get banned even if you have the flip off switch in your modded xbox. Also, please stop comparing these inferior shit xlink/xbc packet forwarding bullshit to xbox live. It doesn't compare and I'm glad to pay the $49/year rather than use these free services. Don't start with the xbc bullshit because you know it sucks major dick.
