The dlink gaming router may even have a pre set for the ports xbox live needs already, but you should be able to find a guide at www.portforward.com
In they end you may find it just doesn't get reception well where it is, the damned stuff can be pretty fickle. Does the ps3 get a good signal with it's built in wifi stuff in the same area?

I checked and it does say that NATS are open. downloading stuff from xbox live isnt too bad its just in game multiplayer. Im going to head out and try to pick up halo 3 and see if I have the same problem. Im gonna be pissed if I do.
I opened the ports and lag is better but still not great for competative playing. Going to pick up halo3 and see if its any better. Thinking I might switch gaming adapters to the linksys too instead of the 360 one.
