Worth it to upgrade 360?

My buddy has a 360 from launch which miraculously hasn't had RRoD yet. However he wants HDMI. It comes out to him paying $120 out of pocket for a new one when he trades his old one. Is this worth doing?

If he wants HDMI, yes. If he wants a RRoD free xbox, no.

I have had 4, so I'm a little bias...

Wasn't there a recent change with the boards on the recent 360's?

Yea, there have been quite a few changes since the first run. Different heat sinks on the GPU and CPU's. Scaled down both the GPU and CPU to run cooler. And a couple other things too. All in All If he really wants HDMI, then I would say upgrade.

HDMI is useless. Component works just fine. No point in spending the $120. Thats almost the price of a BN Arcade!

You can do these mods yourself. Hit up newegg or something, buy some little heatsinks and some Arctic Silver and voila...

EDIT: heatsinks for the RAM

Is he out of connections on his TV/stereo? Would HDMI give him more flexibility as far as connections go?
