As long as its made by the same folks Team Ninja and Nintendo, we know its going to be same quality and top notch gameplay.
Thank God its not some knockoff company trying to fulfill its own vision

Figured I'd post these up here. I'm still just as excited as before!
Seems to really capture the Metroid spirit while introducing something new of its own.

Oh and this one, which is rather lame in my opinion.

I picked this up on day 1.
Pretty great so far, I'm about 5 hours in. First the good stuff:
-The atmosphere is spot on from what I can tell. The environment is extremely varied, at some points I forget I'm even on a ship! The environments are made through complex holograms and such. This adds to the feel of the game greatly. You'll be going through a dark corridor only to open a door and find yourself in a lush green jungle. Very cool. On top of this, you can hear some revamped classic soundtracks playing in the background. This helps complete the "metroid experience" in my opinion.
-The puzzles are as good as ever. By using your environment and paying close attention to detail you should be able to work out the issue without too much frustrating trial and error.
-Combat is still great. In this game Samus feels fast, as she should be. Got a laser beam speeding towards you? Hit the d-pad at just the right time to dive out of the way. Hit the charge beam button while you dodge and you earn yourself an instantly charged beam, allowing you to counter with no delay. Tired of just mindlessly tapping 1? Charge your beam and jump on the opponent's head to trigger a special attack. Action still retains all its magic in this one.
Now for the bad stuff:
- The controls for this game seem rather forced. It feels like the masterminds over at Nintendo are just being stubborn with this one. I would like to be able to play with a Gamecube or a classic controller. The Wii controller is functional, but it just doesn't feel the best suited for such a fast paced game.
- Cut scenes usually suck. They make me feel like I am watching some overly dramatic anime or something. You'll often hear the "I wonder what he feels about me" or "I can't help but to think...." etc. I've always pictured Samus to be tough, what with the mass quantities of alien death and all, but as it turns out she's just a normal girl in this game. Sure she still has super human abilities, and yes she still has an awesome combat suit with a built in cannon for an arm but underneath all that metal is just a girl fighting for what she believes is right....errr,or something like that. It's a good thing the cut scenes look incredible or else I just may not pay attention to them at all.
Unsure of:
- Upgrades? I'm not sure how I feel about this one. They are great! They are well hidden! They just don't feel like there are that many (then again I'm only 5 hours in so I may change my tune later). A lot of the upgrades are already contained on Samus' suit, she just hasn't been authorized to use them. Sort of frustrating and it takes away from the feel of discovery. Example: You're fighting your way through volcano land with your standard beam cannon. Only till about 1/3 of the way through does your commander say "okay Samus you can use your ice beam!". What? I could've been using it this whole time?? Other than that though, I love the upgrades! Keep them coming.
Over all I think this is a great game. If you like the previous Metroid games, you should have no problem liking this one.
