What game(s) are you playing right now...?

Didn't know Shadow of Mordor was laggy Batman Akrham Knight sans the Batmobile. The lag makes it almost unplayable and you're killing 50 million fucking Orcs every battle. Not as much variation and certainly not as good as Batman. I can see why people like it I guess.

So after the other games not giving me the satisfaction that Dark Souls gave me, I finally jumped in deep into Dark Souls 2. Already had that one boss I got stuck at, a few times of almost flinging controllers, and that high reward of nailing that tough boss/section. The itch is no more.

I will have to give Bloodborne a try. Not sure why but I never got into Dark Souls much. I guess I generally prefer single player games to be relaxing.

^Get ready to die a lot. There will be times where you'll be like damn it I killed all those guys, went really far, died, and they're all back!?!?!? Don't worry there are shortcuts that you can open up. Plus running past enemies sometimes is smart and when you do engage be careful and watch your stamina. I didn't know about Dark Souls when I started BB, and as frustrating as it was and my threats to return it, I chugged through and it's an amazing game.

Anybody playing PubG for PC? Absolutely love it ... even better when you have a decent squad.

Monster Hunter World basically nonstop. So much that I got in a fight with the gf.
I don’t know how my friend gets away with it. He's married (no kids) and he binged the entire weekend. He took Friday off and played at least 10 hours a day. The game is okay, I guess.

Double edge sword of being married, you know what price you'll pay.

I've been playing MH for the past 6 years. I'm no god-tier speed runner, but if I really focus, there are some monsters from previous that I can fight and not get hit by at all.
After reading more into Bloodborne I don't think MH is as tough. Only in a select few instances, where you're stuck in an arena fight with multiple angry monsters.
That, but he's just a lucky guy too. No kids yet

I was being flippant

COD WWII
COD Ghosts
Gran Turismo Sport
ALSO
This week I picked up a pair of wireless surround headphones and I am completely loving them - such a game changer (no pun intended) for gaming - my KD Ratio instantly went up noticeably on the shooters. Astro A50 (Gen3) very comfy for long play too.

I'm still (when I can) playing Lord of the Rings Online 11 years later. So much detail, so much to see and explore.

So I went back and played Metal Gear Solid 2 HD Edition. That twist or "twist" or whatever you want to call it at the end is crazy. Hits really close to home, too.

200 hours into Monster Hunter World now.

Bought the Xbox One over Christmas. Kids obsessed with Minecraft, and the wife won't stop bugging me to play Overcooked.
I'm wasting so many hours on this Overcooked game.

Well that game might be overcooked.. This one is where you have like 4 ppl acting as line cooks, making orders and getting them out in time. It's decent for teamwork, communication etc. so I guess it's not all a waste. And it's not a shoot 'em up game, kid friendly. Everyone seems to enjoy it.

Came back for Diablo 3 seasonal for a bit, it's so much better now. Was almost 4 years since I last played.
Dusted off the Switch, I really like this system. Been playing Steredenn which is a well done pixel art style shoot em up. Kinda like R-Type.
Waiting for Octopath Traveler. I don't play many JRPGs but I really liked the demo and converging character stories.

I actually have Dark Souls, even messed around to get my PS4 controller to work on my PC but I try to stay away from those games.
Bloodborne is still on the list... Maybe someday
I just like relaxing games nowadays I suppose.

I was the same way. Then I tried out Bloodborne and I was hooked. The games are difficult and you'll need a guide or a YouTube channel to follow if you want some handholding. Playing them blind is near suicide unless you're used to those types of games. The combat is done so well and the level design is beautiful. I can't play Shadow of Mordor because it gets so repetitive since compared to the Dark Souls series the fighting feels mundane and I loved Arkham series.

Funny thing about that Bloodborne comment, I tried out Hollow Knight which is a metroidvania type of game. Really fun and cool art style. Still early on but some of the bosses are really hard.
Great to have on the Switch, and only $15
It's not the game, it's just the way I am. A lot of PC gamers in general are like that.
Games go on sale
Buy a bunch for the future "just in case"
Play for an hour or less, or not at all
Have a bunch of games years old that never get played
Games go on sale again
Repeat

Horizon was awesome. I liked the idea of open world robotic dinosaur hunting. I make it sound stupid but the story was interesting and the gameplay was very enjoyable. I need to get the DLC now
Says less about Dark Souls and more about me but DS was a never-again game for me, while Horizon had me hooked from the beginning.

Never again like you played it once and quit? Or beat it once? The Souls games you have to give a lot of patience at first. High risk high reward. I almost quit Bloodborne early too and would never have discovered all the other Souls games. I got lucky.
#1198
I spent more time setting up my controller and character than I did playing the game
I was also stubborn and tried to beat that first boss you see after leaving your cell. Didn't watch videos or read anything about him, just figured I would learn his patterns and win with a methodical approach.
Didn't work, obviously.

Warframe, a third person shooter. It has become so popular in the last few years that they even had their own convention. Yes, for just one game. It started off as a PC-only beta, now it's on PS4 and Xbox, and is coming to the Switch soon.
Started playing it (free to play) with a friend out of curiosity about 4 years ago. Back then the graphics looked superb and still do now. I stopped right around 300 hours played, and I've already put in another 200 hours since coming back. Great game if you like looter shooters. It's not absolutely random loot like Borderlands, and it's not super refined like Destiny, but it looks and feels like a AAA game. The devs are amazing and in-touch with their community, are constantly adding in new, interesting content, and the movement is way better than in Destiny... one way to describe the game is parkour space ninjas. The community is also really friendly, not like the toxic Bungie one, though that's arguably for good reasons.
There are over 30 "warframes" with their own special abilities. You can be melee focused, gun focused, a spellcaster, summoner, CC, support, debuff, or healer class, or any combination of the aforementioned. It's a free to play game, but the devs listened to players and avoid making it pay-to-win. Older warframes that are outclassed eventually get reworks to bring them up to par, and the OP ones get balanced out too.
There are so many weapons too. Depending on what you use, enemies can be vaporized, or chopped in two or more pieces, decapped, burnt into a crisp and gone with the wind, frozen then shattered, dissolved from acid, sent flying with a hilarious ragdoll... etc.
Pistols, shotguns, rifles, snipers. Bolt/lever actions, gatling guns that have spool up, charge-up railguns that will kill 10+ enemies in a line in one shot, bows that can send enemies flying and pin them to a wall (which never gets old). A pistol, which upon getting 3 kills in quick succession, will summon an ethereal copy of that pistol which can double your damage output. Ninja stars. Throwing knives. These fist weapon looking things that shoot hadoukens and ragdolls enemies. Flamethrowers. Rocket and grenade launchers.
Any kind of melee weapon you could think of. Swords. Sword and shield. Daggers. Staves. Staves that can fire projectiles. Glaives. Fist weapons. Polearms. Fucking huge ass hammers. Whips. Dual meat cleavers. There's even a boomerang, though it kinda sucks.
Negatives are it's got a steep learning curve as you can probably tell and it takes a while to build and acquire stuff.
I'll mention it again though - it's free to play. Here's their upcoming content patch, at no extra cost. Different from anything else in the game at the moment.
