I personally agree with the top 3, though I am torn about having The Simpsons at #2, instead of #1. But, #1 is an awesome game (which you can download on Xbox Live
)

That list is seriously outdated. For me, Ninja Gaiden and God Hand would come in the top spots. #3 of course, would be Double Dragon 2, cause the Hurricane Kick revolutionized the beat-em-up. Plus kicking Abobo out of the plane was seriously fun.

I have to agree with #1. Everytime I went to Chuck E Cheeses, Turtles in Time was the game to play. There were lines of us kids just waiting to see what the hell was on the screen.
Trending Topics
Streets of Rage 2 has some of the best music from any video game I have played lol.
and Guardian Heroes is probably my favorite beat 'em up of all time.
-Side Scroll ACtion
-Ability to jump back and forth between 3 different planes
-Being able to rack experience and upgrade your characters
-Kick ass energy beams and magic spells
The video review lies though. Playing with more than 4 characters on the screen is impossible cause the Saturn's such an old platform and lags like hell when you have too many magic spells going on in the game lol.

My votes for side-scroller beat 'em ups that should get some mention:
- Knights of the Round
- Warriors of Fate
- Aliens versus Predator
...all are Capcom side-scroller brawlers. Still play them from time-to-time on the emulator.

im kinda surprised viewtiful joe/2 isnt on this list granted it dosent have that "old school factor" but its basically an old school game with new graphics and very fun to play. you really cant go wrong with streets of rage i have the first one on the wii (virtuall console) and its just as fun as it ever was
