Thinking about getting my 360's disc drive flashed

I've heard about people who will flash your disc drive for about $20 which will let you play modded games. The question is, will Microsoft know you flashed it or had the 360 opened up and whether they do or not, will they still honor the warranty?

I had my 360 replaced due to the RROD last year.

I can't help you with the flashing question, but if you received a reaplacement xbox the warrantee is still valid. If you break the seal to open it up for modding, kiss the warrantee goodbye. There is no real way to open it without breaking the seal and if you flash the drive they will know it was done if you send it to them. I'll also say you have to be careful with the drives, without a reflash a new drive will not work with your xbox. So that said the person better know how to do it correctly or you might have to pay xbox to fix the possible problems created. Also if it were me I wouldn't go on xbox live, since they have computers scanning for pirated software/hardware.

I guess imo, I wouldn't do it.

I did mine about 2 months ago. Enjoying my $10 per game(new!). Paid $45 and got a free game!

I don't play online(I'm connect to live, but only for demos, updates, etc.) so I'm not worried about M$ finding out. Besides, the guy told me that I could play online, because the drive is flashed in a way where they cannot be detected!

No problems so far. Also, I'm a risk taker, so I don't give a sh*t about warranty, lol! If anything was to go wrong, I'd just buy an Arcade model and put my HD in it!

My friend has one. He's OCD so he has literally folders of games. Plus he gets Wii games. He pays only $2 per game since he's in a newsgroup and gets blanks when they're on sale.
