I don't recall seeing a level like that. Is it from a Japan only release?

funny...but a little too long.

 

those levels are part the many glitch/cheat secrets in that game the lives arent infinant either that is what gets showed once you go past 100 lives this can be done with the turtle trick where you hit a turle on some steps and bounce on the shell with correct timming your have well over 100 lives in a few minuts the best place to do that is on 3-2 right near the end man its been so long. you get the levels he is on after you beat the game with the crap ton of lives when you start over. my fav glitch/cheat is on the last level if you are big and manage to land on both bowser and the swith for the brige at the same time. you will flash like you took damage but will remain big. then when you start over you will start out big when you get a mushroom you shrink and once you get fire you flash to big when you shoot but imidiatly get small again.

 

There is a part II to this as well.

 

still enjoyable though.
