From IGN...
Sony's E3 press conference might still be days away, but it would appear one of the company's biggest cats is out of the bag -- the PSP Go is real.
Yes, for some reason the latest episode of Qore is live and features host Veronica Belmont speaking in the past tense about E3 and getting a private demo of the PSP Go from SCEA Director of Hardware John Koller. Want the deets? Well, imagine a smaller PSP-3000 where you slide the top portion up to reveal the D-Pad, Select button, Start button, and traditional face buttons. The screen is going to be 3.8 inches, the unit is 44 percent lighter than the PSP-3000, there's no UMD drive, there's a Memory Stick micro slot, it's Bluetooth compatible so that you can use a headset and link it to your cell phone, and the unit packs 16 gigabytes of flash memory.
As if that news wasn't huge enough, the episode of the show features our first look at LittleBigPlanet Portable in action (the screen is in tight on Sackboy and packing a lot of color) and Koller says that there is a new Metal Gear and Gran Turismo coming to the PSP.
In terms of the family tree, Koller said that the PSP Go is not replacing the PSP-3000 but that both units will live in harmony on retail shelves -- although he did say that Sony likes 10-year lifecycles so the PSP Go should have a bit longer life than the PSP-3000. Still, Koller said the company plans to continue to support both downloadable and retail-based games. Belmont asked if there would be different games for the Go versus the traditional PSP; Koller responded that the units will have a similar catalog to begin with, but with time, he expects there to be some differences -- like maybe developers making smaller games that are shorter experiences.
Want to get your hands on the PSP Go? Koller said that the unit is expected to ship this fall.

I know, I literally LOLed when they said that in the video. They said GT was coming for the first PSP when it came out, and it's still hasn't come out. That was probably 4 years ago. I have a love hate relationship with Gran turismo. I hate that they publicly announce release dates that they can't even come close to making I mean they miss these release dates by years not weeks or months. It's ridiculous, makes me upset. Speaking of which where's GT5?
Sony is supporting downloadable games now? When did this happen?

I didn't know Sony had downloadble games for the PSP, I've never checked out the Playstation Network from my PSP( I don't have a PS3 ). I just thought all the free downloadable games that are elsewhere on the internet would really be killing UMD sales.
Sony fails again at portable gaming.

Saw this in playstation magazine yesterday... I didn't read the article though, so if you find out anything, please by all means, do tell.Seriously? Still one joystick? Are they completely retarded? I would have actually considered buying a psp if it had two joysticks like an actualy ps2/ps3 controller. Its so useless to me without it.
yea i used to have one of the older psps and the single joystick was my biggest gripe. I've recently thought about buying a DS Lite or DSi. I want something to play with while I'm at work (front desk at a gym can get very boring) Anybody have any recommendations or suggestions in my DS Lite vs DSi vs PSP selection?
Its not supposed to be the second gen PSP, its more of a PSP "Lite". That being said, its not surprising it doesn't have a 2nd stick. They are still making the original PSP alongside this, if this one was substantially better (i.e. 2 sticks) I could see sales of the original being affected more than they would have wanted it to. I am sure they could have put in 2 sticks if they really wanted to - if that was their marketing goal. Sure, maybe we don't think it's the best direction to go in, but think about how many times Sony has disappointed us in the past years?
the sliding screen is just one more thing to have problems with. Not a very good idea IMO for sony. I dont know why they'd waste money on a side project like this instead of just improving it.

They could have easily made an extremely thin second trigger on the back of the PSP somewhat similiar to a current xbox360 controller. And using both joysticks does not detract from pushing the action buttons, I have played plenty of ps2 games in which you use them all simultaneously. It could have been done better.
anybody getting the PSP go?
