I decided to make another rFactor video for the hell of it. This is me driving the recently released Champ Car mod at Birmingham. Instead of the usual cockpit view, this is the same lap with the TV cam and a non-cockpit onboard view. The actual game graphics are better since anti-aliasing doesn't work when exporting videos from rFactor.

interesting that the game has built in video exporting, guess you dont have to use a program like fraps

It basically does a frame-by-frame dump when you export the videos. By default it uses a common codec (I forgot which one). This makes the export take forever as it basically has to compress each frame during the export process. The footage from this video would have probably taken 4-6 hours to export in this manner.

The good news is that it's easy to hack a config file and tell the game to use any specific codec you have installed on your computer when it exports video. I use a losless codec which results in huge video files but speeds up the process literally 10x.
