Recommend me a laptop please

I am in the market for a new LT in the very near future. My budget is $750-$1000, or less obviously.

This will be a home system and at home I am not a heavy user at all. I am your simple e-mail, internet, instant messenger user. But I do want quality. I won't be carrying it outside of my apartment much, if at all so portability is not important to me.

Any recommendations?

Thank guys

for that price, i would recommend taking a look at best buy or circuit city's weekly ads.

you can get a pretty nice laptop for under $1000 from reputable brands: toshiba, HP, etc.

If you don't plan on getting it out of your house, go with a desktop.

http://www.dell.com/content/products...n&s=dhs&~ck=mn

As you can see, a nice desktop is 300-400. Drop 400 on a monitor and you've gota 30 some inch screen with a great desktop.

Still in your budget rang, and you can upgrade if you need.

I don't want to get a desktop because it requires a desk and therefor more furniture, for which I don't really have room.

But thanks.

I just searched for a lapto in your range for a friend of mine, Best Buy has pretty good deals, but I was able to built a great laptop on dell.com for $950...

Check out their Studio 15 line. Let me know how it turns out for you, as I'm curious, I also need an average workhorse laptop.

Shop around for deals on HP or Dell's website. Every so often a deal comes out and you can save a couple hundred bucks and get something nicer.

personally, I'm not a fan of buying laptops that are preconfigured for you when you can buy a laptop that is roughly the same price when configured online, but doing it this way you had a choice of what you put into it.
