Sony Releasing PSP 2 By Year’s End?
Word on the street is that Sony’s planning to release a version of its PSP that uses an 8 GB Samsung NAND flash. Recent reports do state that negotiations have broken down between the two companies. Moreover, Sony wouldn’t use the NAND flash, but instead would go with a microdrive. Market sources say on the contrary, and that Sony’s going with NAND.
Whether or not Sony will be offering any further tweaks is not yet known. This Japanese article does refer to a “PSP 2,” which could simply be a journo mistake (likely) or an inside scoop (not).

yes DS is doing pretty well, imo i think sony needs to come out with better games for the PSP and cut the prices on the movies.
and i guess cut the price a little on the price of the PSP

Make a mini 40 gig drive and they will sell like hotcakes. I don't care is sony is so gun ho about piracy they will make up for it in volume of sales. Hell why do you think CD burners or MP3 players sell so well when they have bigger drives. I would buy a PSP but with the option of only a 2 gig drive and 2 hour battery life...why?
Yea.. the PSP is starting to fizzle and Sony is starting to notice. Hell the only thing I use mine for these days - which thankfully or unthankfully I still find addicting - is Lumines.. If this thing had 20 or 40gb damn, I would have music, movies, tons of sheit on it. It would be quite a device. Also movie companies are losing interest in UMD and some have even started to actively cut back on UMD releases. The pricing is a big part of it too - UMD's should be cheaper. I mean, can you imagine if they were like, $7.49 or something stupid? They would fly off the shelves. They would come out on top purely on volume, duh. Why is this so easy for us to understand?

I dont see why people are making a big deal about sony making the psp better, when apple has been releasing new ipods every years for the last 7 years. I'd be afraid to be an ipod thinking that a new ipod will be out at the end of the year. The psp has been decent and has lots ofpotential. Just because it's getting updated, doesnt mean that it's a bad thing.

Rumor: New PSP to get a built-in camera and 4GB of flash
Posted Feb 24th 2006 10:30PM by Dan Choi
An EyeToy on top of a PSPAccording to PSPworld, "[t]he next version of Sony's PSP will sport an integrated digital video camera that will allow users to stream live video to the PlayStation 3" as a Wi-Fi way of chatting with friends.
The new model (which obviously won't go by the nickname "PSpee") will come in black, silver, and white, and it will also have a quarter of an inch shaved off its thickness. 4GB of NAND flash storage will reputedly be included as well, saving gamers a whole lot of money on memory sticks for media and other applications--playing with homebrew, for instance.
Word of an integrated camera may be the most interesting news, however, with a stock camera used in Sony Ericsson phones to be placed directly in the PSP logo below the portable's screen to take photos and record video. All of the video-streaming capabilities are supposed to be tied in to the rumored PlayStation HUB service, bringing one more media expression to Sony's next-gen convergence device (if this rumors pans out, of course).

But I might just end up selling my PSP to get the new one if its comming out.
The only things i think it needs improvement with are
1. erogonomics. if everything is going to use the joystick, it needs to be WAY more comfortable.
2. battery life. they can def squeeze a little more out of current technology

I wonder what that is.
