no, I didn't pre order. I'm in no rush, I'll just get one next time I'm in a store that has them in stock.

yep, same thing as an ipod. you need a sony memory stick (I think the version for this is called pro duo?)... and then you just hook the psp to your computer with usb and you can drag and drop files.

i tried to justify some of my purchases the same way but even tho it has potentially more features than just gaming, i most likely won't ever use it. mp3 capability is a possibility but then again i have an ipod for that. the psp is too bulky to carry around and use as a music player. i will never ever watch video on the go. if i am out and about there really isn't any reason i feel the need to watch a movie. if i am traveling i have my laptop for mobile computing. even tho the laptop is much larger it is more versatile when it comes to email/web/chatting and for me development work. i have a pda and i hate trying to type with it. adding a new contact takes forever, so writing email back to someone using a pda and stylus is a nightmare to me. forget about chatting, trying to manage even 3-4 chat windows on a pda is pretty hard. then there is the battery life on the psp, already there have been rumors that it will last about 4 hours tops. i am betting because of the type of media it uses and the processing power that it will last as long as a laptop(which is not good). that means i will have to carry around the charger which doesn't really excite me. don't get me wrong i think the psp is great and i am very impressed with what i have seen so far. but for 250 i rather spend my money else where until they lower the price.

yeah, sure, good luck finding one after March 24. Again, from some articles that I have read, they forecast this item will be sold out on launch day, ALL 1 millions of them.

You don't understand, Sony is losing money by selling them at $250 each, but they're doing that in an effort to burn Nintendo real hard, and capture the leading position in the portable gaming market. So if you want to see lower prices on this item, you'll prob have to wait for a LONG while.

Like I said, I'm in no hurry. I don't care if I don't get one for 6 months.

if that's what they say, i just wouldn't be satisfied with a device that has such poor batter life. the point of portable gaming is that you can play on the go. having to be plugged in all the time is a real hassle. i will wait to they release a 2nd gen version where the battery life hopefully will increase. what i bet is that they will probably release some third party battery backs that plug into the ac outlet to extend the battery life like they use to have for the old old school gameboy. i remember those rediculous looking battery backs that you strap to your belt and then plug into the gameboy so that it extends the game play time.
