Ars Technica posted an editorial about this game yesterday. It's a very interesting read as it poses many questions about why people game and what they may or may not be willing to experience in a game.

I had Indigo Prophecy on the PS2, but never finished it. I see you can download it on XBL, I need to play it again. That was a great game.
Well, I liked the first 3/4 of the game. I thought the "twist" towards the end was a bit far-fetched, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on this one.
9.0/10 Review from IGN. Can't wait for this one.

I played the demo. Maybe I'm just incredibly jaded, but it was a little meh to me. I mean I'm sure the full game will be much better. This game seemed like too much of a "push the right button when it tells you to" kind of thing. Other than that, from the demo, it just seemed like it was too much like a cinematic, not enough like a video game. I don't really know how else to explain
Like I said, I'm sure there's much more to it in the full game. I wouldn't really call myself one of those types that only likes games that cater to people with ADD or anything, if you know what I mean.

I felt similarly. The game is way too rigid for my tastes. I like games where I am in complete control of my character. And where, I don't have to wait for scripted cues on when to do stuff an what to do. And it's too bad because from
everything I had read and seen about this game, it sounded like a modern version of the "choose your own adventure" books. And remember, even though there were choices, as a whole, there was still a rigidity because there were only so many choices. I like games like GTA where, I can just steal a bike and ride or all over the place doing nothing if I want. This game would have been great if he had a set combat system, and you could attack anyone you want. Like in any scene I should just be able to decide to kick a guy, because I feel like it. And give me some weapons too. Stuff I can pickup and use, without scripts. I won't be buying this game because I won't put a lot of time into a game like this. I much rather prefe a game I can jump into, have my fun, and then get out.

Alright, I'll look into this game a bit more. Reviews do say the beginning is very slow-moving. I'm sure that's where the demo was at..
Yeah, like that fight scene in the demo. It reminded me of all those times in Resident Evil 4 where you have to quick push A or B--or the shoulder buttons--at the right time, or else you'll get stabbed or thrown off a cliff or something. You're usually caught off-guard, and by the time you figure out what to do, you fail, and you have to start over at the beginning. Not to mention pressing a correct series of buttons so that detective guy would squeeze past a dumpster in an alleyway just felt stupid.
It'd be like playing a game where you walk into a Burger King and it prompts you to push square for no mayo, then hold down the R1 button for 3 seconds if you want a large Dr. Pepper with it... Like, who decided this was good material for a video game? It sure wouldn't be good substance for a movie, book, etc...
But ehh, the reviews all say this kind of stuff goes away when you get deep into the game.

It's supposed to give you the feel that for once, you control the story rather than the story pulling you along. It's also meant to show you that for once, there are consequences to every action you make. There are no do-overs, there are no restarts, there are no "you died" screens, the story simply continues.
I give this game a substantail amount of credit for doing something different from the norm. I'm looking forward to playing a game that's basically a complete 180 from what I'm used to and comfortable playing. I can't wait.
Played the demo last night. Incredible graphics. That's about all I can say. All of the "negatives" have already been touched on. I give it credit for being different, and the story is good, but overall, it's not for me.
Gamespot gave the game an 8.5, saying it has technical issues.... is the PS3 really that hard to develop for? I just hear too many reviews lately that tell of PS3 games having screen tearing, framerate issues, etc. But then there are other games out there that look undoubtedly better on the PS3, but never have any of those issues.
