Nice read.. Can't wait for this next gen to arrive already. The current games just don't excite me all that much now after seeing what's on the horizon.

by Patrick Klepek, 05/27/2005

Autodesk, who has been providing support for developers on the PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PSP, has officially announced plans to back Sony's new hardware, PlayStation 3.

The company also 3ds Max title developers working with the Collada format will receive additional support from Autodesk.

"We are delivering the innovative tools and game pipeline solutions needed to help our customers realize their ideas and harness the amazing power of PlayStation 3. We are excited to support SCEI and the game developers who create game titles -- as they innovate for the future of 3D entertainment," said Marc Petit, vice president of product development and operations, Autodesk Media and Entertainment.

Long-time 3dx Max user Midway has revealed it will be utilizing Autodesk 3ds Max animation software during next-generation game development.
