My Motorola phone comes with a USB charger. Is it safe to use it to charge the PS3 controller? It says 5V 850mA. Seem too much amp for the controller?

IF anything, try plugging into the PS3 Console's USB ports. I've charged my iPhone this way a few times away from home and the car using the car charger's breakaway USB cord

 

I've used my Blackberry charger to charge my controllers sometimes...nothing wrong it

 

the charging cables are only $5. why not just buy one to be safe
