Playstation 3 console keep it or sell it?
I had it for about a week now and only game I have is Resistence: fall of man. Its awesome but I'm used to having 20+ games on video game systems. Should I sell it now and wait for ps3 lib to grow or keep it? btw I have 20GBs version.
you won't make a "killin' " at this point... the prices have already gone down... (see eBay), and then there's the fact that it's used (even if it's only a week, many people would frawn on that).
I know there's been a lot of flamin' on the PS3, but I'd just wait... there'll be more games eventually... the 360 kinda had a slow start too...
I, on the other hand, have a 60g unopened... I'm kinda debating too... but will most likely keep it...

Sell it in a week when someone wants to pay a insane ammount for it. The PS3 is nothing that great *yet* IMO. Especially if you have been following the news about it.
The 8 Core CELL processor is psuedo broken to programmers. 6 SPE cores are available to the developers (one works as a controller for media, other as master CPU). The benchmarks ran so far show it being real slow. Another major drawback to the PS3 CELL design is only 256KB of code can be put to each SPE cell core at one time. So programming it will be a challenge.
To add, it's going to take a year for games to catch up to XBOX 360 speeds. As all of the game that come out now are just simple ports. None of them are written to utilize the PS3 hardware completely.
Still feel like it's worth $600? I'd sell it, it's not like it's going to cost you anything. You CAN sell your unit now and make some $$. In a couple of months you won't be able too when they are common place in stores.

I'm sure Sony and their partners are creating their rebuttals
Saying the PS3 is broken is extreme, saying it won't perform as expected is true if Sony can't fix the processor issues via software updates. The benchmarks being slow could be a bug in the benchmarking software. Or the bad numbers are just irrelevant. Like the GFX memory-> cpu read speed, it really doesn't matter much as you never read GFX memory back to the cpu when rendering 3d GFX. Time will tell. Again remember those benchmarks need to be enhanced to use the CELL processor to it's fullest.

Opened and used probably won't fetch that much. If you're thinking about getting another one down the road when better games are out.. then at this point, just keep it.
As IS300eater said... the 360 had a very slow start too... it took about 8-9 months for the really good games to start coming out consistently... so figure by next summer the PS3 will be on track...

BTW, in regards to the topic at hand, the PS3 prices on eBay have pretty much dropped to the level of little to no profit (taking fees and shipping into account), so I'd advise keeping the PS3 as other good games will eventually come out.

The issue with developing for the Cell processor is that Sony has historically been terrible providing development tools and middleware compared to Microsoft. Developers had to suck it up with the PS2 since it sold so well, but in this new gen, the 360 is the lead development platform for many mult-platform titles, so you won't see the advantages of the Cell processor taken advantage of often except for mostly first party games.
In addition, the RSX GPU in the PS3 was silently downgraded by Sony from 550mhz GPU / 700mhz DDR to 500mhz GPU / 650mhz DDR. This is not a huge downgrade, but the RSX was always the weakest link in the PS3 architecture and clockspeed cuts don't help at all.
The PS3 is a good system, and I am certain it will eventually have outstanding titles, but it is hampered by some questionable design decisions.
You might as well keep it seeing that you might not get as much as you want.
I was going to sell my 60GB with a SON KDLV32XBR2; 13 Games, Monster HDMI cable and an extra controller for around $3500, but the gamer in me told me to keep it.

I also have the 360 and a handful of games... but suppose IF I didn't, I wouldn't even give a thought of selling, it'd be hooked up to my TV the minute I got home... again, there's a lot of PS3 bashing, but I, honestly think it'll do fine in the long run... I don't get all political and shit about consoles...
but with that said... I'm also considering gettin' the Wii, I know... It's becoming an addiction
for me i actually got it when it wouldve been best to sell it, but temptation got to me and i opened it. as of right now, i wish i hadnt cause of the money and there arnt any good games for it.
I got a 20GB at a price lower than I'd pay at the store for a PS3 from a guy who bought 3 and couldn't offload the final one and had to pay his credit card bill. I would recommend keeping yours as I doubt you would make much money on it.
The games at the moment stink and it really isn't worth paying for new, but the potential is there. My PS2 also broke, so I'll use the PS3 for BC now.

I am getting a 360 for christmas from my boss(she doesn't know I know what I am getting). I am afraid I am getting old technology. You it is worth it to sell it and use the money on a playstation 3? Or is this one of those questions that doesn't have an answer?
