how to watch movies on psp

I decided I need to put my psp to more use, so I'm trying to figure out how to watch movies on the PSP. I know I need a big memory stick, but does watching movies on the PSP have anything to do with firmware versions or anything of that sort? No matter what, can I just pop movies onto the memory stick (i think in mp4 format?) and then just watch them? Is it that simple?

You have to name the file specially and put it in a special folder on the memory stick.

There's also a new program out that allows you to play a lot of different video formats using homebrew. You can read about it here:

Those forums are really useful when it comes to homebrew and other PSP mods.

ok im pretty sure i cant run "homebrew" since my firmware is version 2.60, so i guess that prog is out of the question. So version doesn't matter, as long as I name it correctly and place it in the appropriate root folder?

I always get a pain in my neck (literally) after watching a two hour movie on that little screen.
And use Videora as posted above, buying UMD's can get expensive quick.

Yeah, maybe videora would be easier. Don't know if you know, but they made a devhook for fw 2.71, which allows you to use some homebrew programs and play full games off your memory card.
