well, i caved in and bought it this weekend. I haven't played since May but I was looking at my account and my 6 months was just renewed in Nov.

Exactly private servers ftw. But they won't update tp WotLK for a while.

 

I tried one of those before buying the real game. I had about 10 hours of playing time in and they shut down one day, never came back up. There were a few hundred really pissed off people. I'll pass.

 

Um I'm on a good one now its been up for years never been shut down.

 

How is it on broken quests? Every one iv'e seen has some. What update are they on? not that im going to switch at this point but I am curious.

 

Thread resurrect, in anticipation for Cataclysm

Anyone still play this? I just got the combo pack of WoW and BC, been playing it almost nonstop for the past week or so. I'm quite disgusted with myself, I've gotten to level 45 now when my friend who has a level 80 character or two asked me what level I was, his response was "that's gross". Me and my friend are on refer a friend though, so each high level quest can give us anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 XP.

This came after years and years of making fun of my friends firsthand while they played this at their houses.... now who's laughing. I think I would have played a lot sooner had it not been for the Southpark episode of WoW.

I'm not addicted persay, its just that when I play I tend not to stop for a while. Oh and I did my first BG PvP yesterday, I kept getting owned by mages and I got one-shotted by a lvl 49 Rogue :ghey: people don't stand still like they do in PvE, heh

My toon was a level 42 Orc Warrior at the time btw. I only got in 2 killing blows the whole match, it was CTF.

 

I quit for over a year and about June of this year I stated to play a bit. Got my 73 to lvl 80 and started to heroics. I didn't want to grind to much out seeing as how Cat is going to come out soon enough. No point in getting al that gear to have it worthless by lvl 81.

 

im tempted to get back into it. but i dont want to grind up to 80.

my toon is a 63 human mage. and i got a 64h warrior.

 

how the hell is it possible to download a 30MB installer and install 11GB in like 5 minutes...

nvm.. i figured it out. its like a torrent. it takes up the space but the data isnt really there. its downloading it right now..

So gonna level up my Mage some more, hopefully I can reach 70 since it's fully rested for 2 levels.

What servers are you guys on? I'm on Ner'zhul, stuck with my friends. lvl 55 already after about 2 weeks of owning the game.... disgusting. Refer a friend gives you massive XP, when questing enemies are like 3x the XP, quests are probably 2-3x


Also, what do you guys think... Cataclysm is coming out soon and I still don't have the Lich King expansion yet. I'll probably get Cata, but if I preorder I'll "save 15%" now I'm not sure if that's just for LK or not. You guys think the Lich King price will drop after Cata comes out, cause that's what I've been hearing. But I figure, if you can save when you preorder, why would they drop the price... urgh

Um, I've gotten facerolled quite a bit recently. I think I need to play more PvP because when someone appears out of nowhere I usually hesitate for a second or two and that's all it takes for me to die. Rogues are a pain in the ass in particular, out of nowhere I get stunned, crit'd by Ambush, another attack and I'm dead.

Another time I got jumped by a paladin accompanied by a healer. No chance.

Any tips for PvP, for my 57 Fury Orc Warrior? The one successful honor kill I've gotten out of BG was when I got the jump on a Dranei caster, intercepted/stunned them, hamstringed them so he couldn't get far, then they were short work. Only reason was cause I wanted to mine a gold vein and they were in the way

I'm on Medivh. 80 Undead Frost mage. Also have a 20something mage, but only play that with a group of friends. We all get together at my house, order pizza, drink lots of beer and play. Instances are much harder when you're plastered by the way.

Miz, when 4.0 came out all the talent trees changed drastically. There's a whole new thought process behind it. They're trying to simplify things.

 

I'm on Maiev, I just play a couple times a week with my brother. Tempted to start a rogue character, its been years.

 

I still play on private servers because I don't feel like paying 15 dollars a month for a game that I don't play that often. But cataclysm looks sick.

 

How do these private servers work? They basically the same thing, full functionality, or....?

 

Yep I play on a server where just about all the spells work, the BGs work, and majority of instances work. On top of that the xp rate, making it so much easier to lvl. The reason why I quit WoW was because it took forever to hit 70 and then 80. The game is too much of a time investment.

 

Yeah I did that for a while, level of the players' maturity alone can be worth it. However, my real life friends still play on legit ones so thats where i'm at. I couldn't talk them into LOTRO or EVE, oh well

 

I'm stuck on a paid server too for the same reason. Cata does look cool though, I kind of want to make a Tauren Paladin named Retbull or Givesyouwings



They should make a World of Starcraft I don't know much about the lore of WC, though I'm slowly learning it. I know a decent amount about SC at least, having played and finished each campaign and doing some reading on the side.

I'm undecided on my next toon.... Tauren Pally probably. Or a Mage? A Priest? Been reading that a lot of people love their mages and priests, and I'll be playing in a PvP server with BGs as the ultimate goal. Really interested in trying out a ranged caster.

 

I realized that there are a LOT of toons named "Toucher", many of whom are priests. Apparently back in the day or even now, you could attain the rank of "Private [Name]"

I still play (been playing for 5 years now).

I'm actually scheduled to raid tonight to finish up an ICC mount run for some guildmates, but considering a pretty significant patch is launching today, who knows when servers will be stable.

But it's an exciting time. The Shattering happens today - the old world is going to be changed forever.

 

Shit, I still haven't explored everything yet. I don't even know what Stormwind looks like my friend said it was one of his favorite cities, but I didn't bother with my human pally enough to get that far. Damn.... I was wondering what the patch was all about. I thought it wasn't going to happen until near the Cata release date.

Because of the massive changes (going from a 51 talent point tree to 31 talents) in patch 4.0, which happened right around the time you started playing, Warrior's were under performing in current lvl 80 raid content. The idea being that everything would scale fine at lvl 85 when Cata launches.

So Blizz buffed them in the interim so that they (in theory) would do similar numbers pre 4.0... however those buffs were ridiculous.

I have a Shadowmourne on my DK, and pre 4.0, I would do similar numbers as a Fury War with Shadowmourne in my guild. Post 4.0 (with the buffs) the Fury War absolutely tears me apart - I do about 15-17k dps, he can pull close to 20k dps on raid fights where you stand still.

You'll be fine when you hit 85.

And I feel you, I was horde for 5 years, before faction changing a few months ago. I have no idea where anything is alliance side.

 

Thanks, I feel better now. I'll be patient... I'm likely overreacting, seeing all those ".... decreased by 17%" nerfs over and over was a little disappointing. I got owned in PvP BGs, though that could be due to my newness and I dueled my friend's same level Ret Pally a few times and could not take him down. He has heirloom items, but in one duel he killed me without even attacking.... and Paladins got a buff! His DPS as a tank is also within 200 DPS of mine, though I admit mine is usually quite up there. Locks and mages tend to be close to my DPS too. Was fun while it lasted at least, lol

Im down to change servers when the exp pack comes out. If anyone else wants to make an AZ guild. I have lvl 80 toon (shadow priest dual speced with holy) and level 70 warrior tank. Both of them are alliance. I would prefer to stay there because DEATH TO THE HORDE! lol also I am almost maxed out on tailoring and enchanting atm

Wow you got a sick druid. I gave up raiding as son as I found out about Cat. Really no point since within 2-3 lvls it will be outdated . Im seriously game to switch servers as long as we all play on on server. I will even switch factions. I would rather not, but Will if it comes down to it. So we doing this or what?

 

I tried reserving some names for Cata. Worgendonor and Worgerine were obviously taken and I leaned towards playing a druid, so I picked Catdog... also taken. I ended up with Meowoof
