PC: Crysis

Its a EA 1st person shooter, More like Far Cry but looks 10times better.

Supposted to be released 4Q 2006, Jan 07.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...75929069803475

Its going to use DX10, so it will be interesting to see what the min specs are going to be like....

That game looks very purdy...!

I wonder how many toes I need to give away for the video card to pump out that kind of a resolution and fps...

Don't forget, it's not just a shiny new video card you'll need. You'll also have to be sure that you're rig is suitable for running Vista. Last time I checked DX10 = Vista only.

While this is true, the game will still run on DX9, it just won't look as good with DX10.

It will be interesting to see how much difference there is between DX-9 > 10

Some e3 coverage from some game people said they had it on a quad nvidia 7900 rig with a fx60 or whatever.. Still had framerate problems.

Anywho, just like every video game ever you will probably be able to run it with something you can put togeather for 800 dollars aswell, but not at the same level of pretty.

there isn't any actual dx10 hardware in existance yet, so that video is actually running on dx9 cards, quite impressive

DirectX10 is about the only thing Vista has going for it IMO. I say that after having tested both the 32-bit and 64-bit alphas and betas.

So... besides the advantages of a mouse/keyboard over game controller... why would someone spend $x,xxx on a gaming pc for games like this over just buying an XBox 360?

Are the graphics better?

imo computers will always have greater graphics than consoles, only cause of the fact that there will always be newer video cards coming out and outdating the ones used in the consoles.

like i remember xbox 1 had like about the same graphics as a computer when it first came out, that was quickly lost thou..

Upgradibility for one thing. Plus I'm a control freak when it comes to my computers, I've built all my desktops since the early 90's. x 99

are you sure it's by EA? Or is Crytek a division of EA, cuz... the name Crytek keeps coming up as the company developing this game....

and does anyone know if this will be PC only? or PC and X360? or ALL consoles?

Aside from what other people said, a PC can be used for lots of other things too

Just downloaded the demo.

And all I can say

This game is sick. And I can only play it at 1680x1050 on medium as my computer cannot go any higher without bogging down/

8600 gt doesn't cut it, but everybody probably already knew that. I can play it on medium with a couple settings on high, but then what is the point?

I guess i'll have to dive into my ps3 fund for a upgrade again. >_>

Or perhaps just keep playing Team Fortress 2

not sure how a 7800GT OC does compared to a 8600 GT, but I am guessing not much better, if at all.

I might have to pick up an 8800 GT now that they are out, or maybe wait for the new cards

Im playing the demo on my ladtop and I have to turn everything on low to get smooth framerate but it looks not so good. But the game is not bad I want to see more of it. I like the suit that the guys have makes me feel like a superhero.

My Specs:
2.0 ghz AMD Turion
1gig RAM
x1600 256DDR

I've always thought that some games just work better on PCs.

Playing something like say Supreme Commander, other massive RTSes -
having a full keyboard for shortcuts and Dual monitor support!
Try doing that on an xbox.

What the consoles do, though, they do very very well, and much
cheaper.

The demo owns soo much, for those wondering if your PC can handle it. I am able to run it at 1060 X 1050 with everything at its lowest setting :

E6300 1.86ghz @ 3.3ghz
vista x64
4gig of ram 4-4-4-11
7600gt 722mhz gpu 1444mhz ram, i think it is around 30% over its stock speed

time for a 8800gt sli

Crysis

Anybody playing it? I bought it on boxing day but I haven't even started it yet. I was playing COD4 and Gears of War and I decided to wait for the first Crysis patch. Now that it's out, I just need to finish Gears of War first.

So how is it? It seems like there's surprisingly few people buying and playing this, given the interest and the review scores.

I beat it a couple of weeks ago. Enjoyable game, but I didn't understand the hype. It's a standard FPS.
