So who is going to pick it up August 22?
Its the year of the running back and theres new features to control lead blockers and a new "highlight stick". Hope I am not the only guy hyped, my buddies and I are probably going to play online immediately after we buy it.

Gonna get at midnight probably if they do midnight madness. I hope they dont get rid of owner mode for the 360 version. I like being able to hire/fire coaches and move teams.

FYI - The 360 version is shipping with what may be a fairly significant bug depending on how you play. Fatigue is not appearing in the UI.

Not sure if I'm going to go to midnight madness tonight. Probably not. I can't imagine going to the store and hanging out with all video game nerds just to get Madden. I'll just wait until tomorrow morning and pick it up then. If NCAA 2007 for the 360 is any indication, Madden 2007 is going to be sick!! Can't wait to get it... maybe now I'll play the 360 more then twice per week!

I do agree with what someone posted above. Based off the feel and game play of NCAA 07, it looks like Madden 07 on 360 is going to be sick. I heard it is a little slower, but overall it is the same game that is on PS2 and the box.
I will be picking mine up tomorrow morning. I am off from work since I take off Madden release day every year.

And
on Madden 2006 for the 360. It was a POS rushed launch title with stripped down features and lackluster gameplay. Luckily I didn't own a 360 at the time, b/c I would have been PISSED at EA for that. Glad I waited for this year's Madden (although it will be odd to play w/o Madden commentating)...
i just picked up madden 07... its 1am...startin a game now. midnight rush wasnt bad, i was in and out in 2 minutes
edit... gameplay doesnt seem that much different from 06. i havent tried the lead blocking yet. i threw a 10 yard pass to chad johnson then a 55 yard td to him. the replays seem cool. the td was from the stands on the side of the end zone

Yea midnight madness was so quick this year. Gameplay pretty similar the xbox madden 2006 which is good since xbox 360 version sucked. The franchise is somewhat lacking but is still fun. I just hate there is no owner mode that means no dover beavers.
lead blocker feature isnt bad... you have to change ur guy before the snap. u can be the fullback, offensive lineman, TE, WR.... kinda somethin you will have to get used to cause u can change back to the RB after you make a block. but if u go to far ahead of your rb, u wont beable to see him till u switch.... i didnt get any big gains (longest was about 8 yards) running up the middle and being an O lineman was cool.... better then last years for sure. but still nothing to write home about IMO
I'll probably end up running the way I always used to. We'll see. Once thing I was always great at was rushing (led my Madden league in rushing yards 2 years straight), so not sure if I'll use the lead blocker feature too much. We'll see.
Can't wait to get it today. Perfect day too b/c it's cloudy and wet out from rain last night, and is supposed to rain again this afternoon, so I won't feel guilty not playing golf and sitting inside playing Madden. Probably shoot up around noon to grab it...

i got it this morning for 360.
def better then last years. graphics in HD are pretty damn good. reflections on helmets are crazy and the stadiums are so accurate.
gameplay wise i think its better then last years but sometimes easy to bump it outside and run all the way. some cool animations, crowd looks real
overall, i think it was worth it

Overall...graphics are awesome, but I still have some reservations. I need to play the PS2 version before I make my official judgment. Here is my opinion at this point.
Huge improvement over last year's 360 version, but it does not feel the same as the PS2/XBOX Madden's of the past. I heard they changed the spin move and juke, but to me, it plays more like NCAA 07 (360) than it does Madden. Even on All-Madden, there seems to be excessive broken tackles & fumbles and unrealistic blocked field goals from 25 yards out.
I have been a serious Madden player for years and mainly played on PS2, so maybe I am just not comfortable with the 360 controller when it comes to Madden.
Ideally, I would like exact same game play with enhanced graphics on my next-gen Madden.

Agreed, Madden on the 360 is a bit of a disappointment. Actually, so far, the 360 overall is a big disappointment to me.
Graphically the game is phenominal... and the sound is sick... except the play-by-play. Who's bright idea was it to have some no-name guy that sounds like he's broadcasting from his basement offer such limited play-by-play?? This is supposed to be a next-gen game, not a game where things are cut and made worse!
Overall I feel like Madden 07 on the 360 is equivilent to Madden 2004 or 2005 on the PS2. Gameplay took a HUGE leap back:
- No defensive hot routes
- Waaaay to many fumbles
- Corner backs have gone back to 2004 as mentioned and can't defend a pass
- The swat button used to be swat/catch based on the DB's positioning... now it's on two separate buttons again and using the wrong one means giving up the big play
- The vision cone, which made passing soooo much more realistic is now optional (although I think this is the case on all versions)
- The new lead blocking feature is nothing more then a gimmick. Running the old fashioned way by following your blocks is much, much more effecient.
- Defensive line moves which were awesome in Madden 06 on PS2 have been replaced with useless moves that send your player off in a direction you don't want him to go
- No scoring summary after a TD/FG
- No graphic overlays for players... everything is done on the score bar which is done so quickly and is so small you pretty much miss it
- Even player of the game on the scoreboard, while a good idea, is next to impossible to read most of the time b/c of how far away the "camera" is and the angle it shows... and I'm playing in HD on a 50" screen!
I could go on and on. When will EA learn that next-gen doesn't just mean unbelievable graphics. Getting great graphics but taking several steps back in gameplay is not the way to go.
Honestly, I'm very close to selling my 360 on eBay, returning my games, and sticking with the PS2 until next year when I can grab a PS3 in time for Madden 2008. I play pretty much all sports game with the exception of 1 or 2 driving games... and the 360 so far sucks ass for sports games... so no point in keeping it. I haven't made up my mind 100% yet, but definitely leaning that way.

God, I hope the PS2 version is normal, because that would be horrible for EA to change the gameplay across the board. It is expected and kind of the unspoken rule that EA can add new features, tweak a few things here and there, but they should never ever mess with the gameplay. Too many years in the making to start over.
So far, the sports games I like on the 360 are FN3 and MLB2K6.
I have only played on 360 as well, but I don't see why everything is so different from last year, in terms of controls. I had no idea how to call an audilble, hot route guys, make individual changes to my defense, etc. it also seems like there are wayyy too many big plays that are way too easy to pull off.
I'm glad I didn't buy a 360 and decided to wait for ps3. like people have been saying all along, its the games that make the system, and sony has the great ones locked up

My buddy is going to pick it up for the PS2 either tonight or tomorrow, so his review of it will make my decision... Madden 2007 for the PS2, or Madden 2006 PS2 with updated rosters. Either way it looks like Madden for the 360 is going back as all of my friends and league mates are already abandoning it.

Why fix something if it aint broken. People on the Madden Board were saying "it is not Madden, it is Next-Gen Madden so of course it is going to have new gameplay." Crap!
I obviously bought a 360, but I am eagerly awaiting to get the PS3 in my house. Microsoft needs to get on the ball and not just depend on 1 game as their flagship.

Are you returning it? I didn't know that was possible. Can people still join your Madden League? I am assuming it is online...correct?

As for the league, it's not an open league, just a bunch of friends that do it since we hate playing the kiddies online. We were full last year, not sure what's happening this year since it depends on how Madden for the PS2 is received and how many people have that one verses the 360 version.
FYI, just checked the receipt... open games can be exchanged for an identical item within 7-days... so hopefully they'll let me exchange it for the PS2 Madden. If not I'll just get them to exchange it for a sealed one and eBay it...

I agree with juniorbean. Its so much harder to play DB. Ever since I first played Madden I've played as DBs when on defense, because I suck at playing d-line (what everyone does). in Madden 2004 CBs couldnt cover, but it was easy to play as them. now in 2007 they suck in coverage and are hard to play as.
when I play the coverage minigame I always get burned when I'm the CB. in previous Maddens most of my games were ended when I made an interception.... my friends would give up in frustration after I made 3-4 player-controlled INTs.
and is it me or can you no longer choose to play in throwbacks and can you no longer edit a player's skills manually? manually meaning without using training camp, player progression, etc.

And correct, no player editing. Not only skills, but names, numbers, etc... nothing can be changed. Just more black eyes for the 360 version and why I'll be exchange it for the PS2 version this weekend.
MADDEN07: Superstar Mode? Please help!
Hello,
On Madden 07 for PS2, can you make it so that on Superstar mode, you're player is the ONLY character you can control?
Last year, it was like a regular game of madden. This year, the only difference i see is that you get a player specific view of your player, and you don't call the plays. But is there a way to make it so that you can't control any of the other players or snaps or even just fast forward to the next series that your character will play in?
Please let me know! Thanks!
