Post Official Microsoft X-Spin Thread

MARCH 21, 2006
MICROSOFT is working on a handheld gaming device that will also play music and movies, a US newspaper has reported.

The new device would probably not hit the market for at least a year and possibly two, the San Jose Mercury News said, citing unidentified sources.

It would compete against popular gadgets like Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP), which can play games, music and movies, and Apple's iPod, the report said.

The project is being headed by vice president J Allard and other veterans of the team responsible for Microsoft's Xbox video game console.

Microsoft had previsouly targeted the gaming and mobile markets separately.

Is this kinda like a Mini-Origami then...?

One benefit of waiting longer is that the handheld will likely have sufficient technology in it to run a lot of original Xbox games from a few years ago. Hence, it wouldn't be hard to create a new library of games for the handheld.
Interesting....but why would anyone want to re-purchase old xbox games for the portable unit? ...Xspin is a :ghey: name.....and yes, for portable Halo.

Yes portable halo would kick ass. However that area of video games is really hard to compete espically since DS outsold PSP last year. Hmm Mircosoft is gonna need some good games for their system. But sounds interestig does this mean there will be a PSP2 in 2 years to compete with x spin?
