Off Brand Monitors

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of purchasing a new monitor this week. I hate going for shopping during the thanksgiving week, so i'm just going to find some deals online.

An hour ago, newegg started its black friday sale and there seem to be some great deals on some monitors.

I'm looking at these two monitors.

eMachines E233Hbd Black 23" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 80000:1(1000:1) $119

Hanns·G HZ251HPB Black 25" 2ms X-Celerate OD 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 X-Contrast 15,000:1 DCR (800:1 typical) Built-in Speakers $169

What do you think of these off brand monitors? Any personal experience on them?

I've always bought $300 monitors till last year and they all seem to only last 2 years anyway..

Any inputs will be appreciated. Thank you!

e-Machine=Acer.

For that price, I'd go for it. The Hanns, that is.

Do they both have HDMI?

Nope. Both of them don't have HDMI. Should I be concerned about that? I really don't need speakers on the monitor though. I got my system hooked onto my computer anyway.

I've never heard of Hanns before, is it pretty reliable? the reviews say it is.

Well, for the best picture quality, you need HDMI.

Not too familiar with Hanns. Most of the chips that go into these components are usually made by the same manufacturer anyway! I heard of a story where, at a factory, there was a bunch of screens lined up to be placed into their cabinets, and these cabinets had different brand names on them. The cabinets of each specific brand had a different design, obviously

If you're on a budget, you got nothing to lose at that price, IMHO!

HDMI is nice but not necessary for the best picture quality. DVI cables works just as fine. Word of advice, depending on what graphics card you have when you use HDMI cables your resolution can only be set in 1080p or 720p because other resolution with cause the monitor to display black borders around it. In the case of DVI you don't have too and vga looks just as fine as both of them.

And if you are choosing between the two go with the Emachine.
