Ordered my elite today, and wondering how I can get a black HD-DVD drive too.

being that there are case mods for so many things, I wouldn't doubt that a company would make a case mod for the hd drive.

so they have the black hd-dvd drive in their system?
There were soooo many things on the net stating they wouldn't release it, guess MS realized that would be the stupidest thing to do considering they released every other component including the controllers, batteries, and play and charge kits in black as well.
I wasn't planning on buying it now anwyays, so I've got plenty of time to wait it out to see if they do release it.
Thanks for the info.

at the person that buys it.
They are gonna have the Black Remotes with the HD-DVD Drive, I WANT ONE! Just the Remote for now!

I think I'm going to get the white drive from Best Buy, they are currently offering 2 free movies with the drive. I wonder if the have a PRP on the drive, if so, I will buy it so when the black comes out, I'll bust it and get the black one
Ended up buying it from Circuit City, because I got the choice of getting ANY 2 HD-DVDs, under $60. So I got Batman Begins and V for Vendetta. The quality is insane and it looks phenomenal on my Samsung 1080P TV.

Here's the full scoop on the connections available for each Xbox 360 model:
Console In-box cables Available cables
Xbox 360 Core S-Video S-Video, Component, VGA
Xbox 360 Component, S-Video S-Video, Component, VGA
Xbox 360 Elite HDMI, Component, S-Video S-Video, Component, VGA, HDMI
A common buzzword in 3-D circles nowadays is "1080p," which refers to the highest possible HDTV resolution available: 1,920 x 1,080 pixels at 60 frames per second (fps). Only a portion of today's HDTVs even support this resolution, but if yours does, Xbox 360 can display games, HD DVD**, and even upscaled DVD video in full 1080p glory+. Of course, other resolutions such as 1080i, 720p, and a variety of LCD monitor resolutions are available as well. The maximum available resolutions for your set depend on how you connect it to your Xbox 360:
Connection Games HD DVD DVD
HDMI 1080p 1080p 1080p*
VGA 1080p 1080p 1080p*
Component 1080p 1080i 480p
S-Video 480i 480i 480i
* Upscaled from 480p
It doesn't matter whether you're connecting a new Xbox 360 Elite to a 10-foot projector via HDMI, or connecting an Xbox 360 Core unit to the VGA port on your dorm room's computer monitor. Either way, you can enjoy content in full, high-definition glory.

Ill tell u this, My tv does 720P and 1080i not 1080p and I have my XBOX Elite Wired to the LCD VIA HDMI and it looks amazing in 1080i or 720P, and when I plug the XBOX Via Component Cables, You can tell the HDMI is a lot better!
So Pretty much HDMI is great for non-1080P TVS TOO!

..no but seriously... there's a couple games I got into that were pretty cool... It does cool things with pictures but I don't use it for that... it upscales regular DVD's up to 1080p... Does something cool along with the PSP, and again I haven't taken advantage of that...
I have Blockbuster online, I've thought about Netflix, they do have a larger collection of HD discs I think. XBOX 360 Elite + HD DVD + HDMI Cable from Monoprice + Samsung LN-T4665 = Heaven on Earth.
Thought sometimes the signal cuts out on the TV on occasion, methinks the HDMI cable from monoprice might be the culprit.

Everything's backed up... it's kinda pointless... I'm pretty sure Netflix has more

I need a 1080p tv first.
