so apparently the console will support only 1 tablet. everyone else will use wiimotes apparently streaming multiple video streams would be too hard on the system but nintedo seems to exploring making it able to support 2 tablets, as well as the possibility to add the 3DS as a controler with display...

Nintendo shows final Wii U Gamepad, TV remote app
By Jon Fingas posted Jun 3rd 2012 6:16PM
Looks like Nintendo didn't want to wait for its proper E3 press conference to spill some Wii U details early -- it just used its preview event to show the finished version of the Wii U controller, called the Gamepad, as well as a TV remote app. The Gamepad is decidedly wider than what we saw a year ago, with comfort clearly the top priority in other areas: the analog sticks have been moved further outwards, and the back grip has been tweaked in the process. There's also no doubt as to where to interact with NFC gadgets, either, as a dedicated spot below the directional pad will take all your device-to-device taps. As for the remote, it looks to be a straightforward number pad navigator with a programming guide. Between this and the Wii U Pro Controller, though, it's clear Nintendo hasn't been sitting still in the past year, and has some home theater ambitions in the process. We're curious as to what Nintendo is saving up for its bigger gala on Tuesday.

Nintendo teases Wii U Pro Controller, black Wii U hardware
By Joe Pollicino posted Jun 3rd 2012 6:25PM
Aside from officially detailing tweaks to its Wii U Gamepad today, Nintendo has announced a secondary controller for those who'd prefer a more traditional control method. Dubbed as the Pro Controller, the wireless peripheral has a remarkably similar shape and button layout to what comes standard with the Xbox 360 -- albeit with a duo a of joysticks and Nintendo-focused function buttons. You'll also notice that it's the first Wii U accessory to be colored in black, rather the white we've become accustomed to. It doesn't stop there either. While showing more video of how the Gamepad functions, it and the Wii U were also shown in the murdered-out hue for the first time -- eye pleasing to say the least. There's not word on pricing for the Pro Controller or whether the system will be released in both black and white just yet, but we'll be sure to bring you more details from the show floor at E3 when we have them. Click past the break for a look at the console and Gamepad in their darker attire.

I was reading this page about Wii U storage http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/sys...sb_storage.jsp
It looks like they really want everyone to run out and get an external storage device and buy the software online. Will all Wii U games be available for download? Is this the end of GameStop? The end of the used game market?

I own the Basic Set, why can't I download Nintendo Land?
Both the 8 GB Basic and 32 GB Deluxe Wii U systems have enough internal storage to store save data for a large number of games purchased through retail and to support a limited amount of download activity through the Nintendo eShop on Wii U.
Nintendo Land cannot be downloaded onto the 8 GB Basic Set system but you can purchase the game at retail and there is room for save data.
If you wish to download more content than what is able to be saved in internal storage, we recommend an external USB hard disc storage device to maximize your storage capabilities for Wii U software.

Are there any other games that I can't download with the Basic Set?
Some larger downloadable titles may not be able to be downloaded with the Basic Set by itself. Adding a USB storage device solves this issue. You can also purchase the game in disc form at retail – game save data requires a smaller amount of internal storage.

How large should an external USB storage device be?
This will depend on how much you plan to download from the Nintendo eShop and the size of the games downloaded. Games sold in the Nintendo eShop can range from requiring rather small amounts of storage space to large titles requiring over 10 GB.

Can I use a Flash/Thumb drive as an external storage device?
Because these devices have a limited number of rewrites and are not suited to long-term storage of important game data, we do not recommend the use of Flash/thumb drives as an external storage device solution. For best results, we recommend using a hard drive with its own power supply that connects to the Wii U via the USB port on the console.
Commercial Flash memory has a limit on the number of times you can write over it and we don't recommend flash memory devices for long-term storage of important save data.

only if the other two consoles follow suit in these next 2 years.
nintendo would hurt gamestop, but not put it out of business.. too much money still in it fromt the other 2.

I really don't get the piece of hardware.
Is it a gimmick or something to really have fun with?

Just read some reviews on amazon.com, many pissed off how long it is taking for a software updated.
Another brand new product that needs an update before you use it...

Will the original Wiimote work on this or would I need "new and improved" WiiUMote?

I just picked one of these up a couple of weeks ago, and I must say I'm actually impressed. I only have two games thus far, Mario and ZombiiU. Both are really good, and I like the tablet functionality. The selling point for me was BC, even if it is limited to Wii games. However all the accessories work, so no having to rebuy.
I bring this thread up to the top because we are starting to see some discounts. My Deluxe was $285, there was a Skylanders (basic) set for $200 the other day.

You know I was really reluctant to get any of the next-gen consoles since I'm kinda burned out on gaming in general. I figured if anything I'd get a WiiU just for Bayonetta 2....
... and now that Bayonetta 2 is getting perfect reviews, I may have to get one sooner than later... If they make a WiiU+Bayonetta 2 bundle I'd get that in an instant.

Yeah I'm on the fence about either a Mario Kart bundle now, Smash Bros bundle later, or just wait to see if I can get a good deal on one. I doubt they're going to drop the price for the console since articles and interviews say they blame low console sales on the software available, not the price of the console

I'm definitely considering it. The last Mario Kart game I ever played was MK Super Circuit for Gameboy Advance. I believe since then they've made at least 4 MK games... I guess it's time to get caught up!

I've been checking around online and a lot of great Wii U games that aren't selling so hot end up going for too much later on. Pikmin 3 is only like 1.5 years old and it's already going for almost $70 on Amazon and ebay....
#67
Well it looks like a lot of places are going out of stock on the Mario Kart bundle. I'm guessing it was only a limited time thing. Time for a new bundle, then?

I have had my Wii U since Feb 2013 and have not regretted it one bit. Nintendo's first party titles are top notch.... butter smooth game play and frame rates. currently working Bayonetta 2...
#69
Well Assin's Creed III is a measly $13 so I picked it up...

Has anyone ever played Wonderful 101? I heard it was pretty cool. Target is having a "Buy 2, get the 3rd free" deal. Maybe I could get Mario Kart 8 + Hyrule Warriors + Wonderful 101.
#71
I heard it was good, have not tried it.. supposed to be quite good graphics wise.
#72
Haha I bought Pikmin 3 before I bought a Wii U. If it's anything like Pikmin 2, it'll be worth twice as much as I paid, in just a few short years..
.... that's of course if I don't end up getting a Wii U.

So now they're re-releasing the Metroid Prime trilogy on Wii U... after I just bought Prime 2 for Gamecube.
So Nintendo refuses to make an F-Zero game for Wii U because they can't think of a way it would be unique and make proper use of the gamepad...... but they plan to re-release the Metroid Prime trilogy..

I'll prolly pass unless there is a MAJOR update to the graphics on those games. Zelda Wind Waker HD was easy to do as it was simple cell shading and is really EASY to upscale and resample the textures....

Just bought Mario Kart 8 bundle for $250 Only $50 off but I'd rather do that then deal with any more BF/CM nonsense. I read some people were able to get a Wii U at Target for $188 or so after various discounts and all, but that entails having to lurk SD all the time and spring on a deal before the others nab it up. Not worth it, IMO.

^Plus they do the wedding registry list to get an extra 15% off on top of their 5% Red card I'm jealous. That's the only thing I want that I didn't get just because I don't have the time to play. Even my girlfriend wants to play Mario Maker since she loves Mario games.

There's definitely a line I draw as far as what lengths I'm willing to go to get a good deal. I'd rather spend $250 when it's on sale versus spending hours online, F5'ing until a deal pops up, signing up for all sorts of newsletters and such so you can get an extra 10% off, etc. I'd rather just spend the extra money and be done with it.
Anyways I've been playing the Wii U for a few days now (Bought Saturday, shipped on Monday, on my doorstep Tuesday! ) and it's pretty cool. The gamepad doesn't seem like a gimmick to me, but it definitely does take getting used to. I'm definitely in the market for a Pro Controller so I can play Bayonetta 1 & 2. Hopefully some stores will have a year-end sale soon.

Oh, I actually bought Bayonetta 2 a few months ago. Sales dipped and the price went down... and now it seems to be back up. I'm thinking the game might end up being a valuable gem someday. Like all those Sega Saturn games that go for like $300+ on ebay, so I may end up picking up a 2nd copy.
Odd thing is I'm playing the first Bayonetta again on Wii U and I noticed the dodging is really delayed. Even on the "broken" PS3 version the dodge mechanic was instant. Either way, the alternate Nintendo costumes are definitely ridiculous. Like a slutty Princess Toadstool Halloween costume.
