Sorry, that one made me crack up. Sorry, now I have the giggles. I was playing video games long before you were even baby batter in daddy's magic sack.
And I would never get a Gamecube. It was a facetious remark. As for the old school games. I have an emulator for every one of the systems you mentioned except the Gamecube (which I don't care about) and the N64 (because I still have my N64 as well as my Saturn and Dreamcast) on my "media machine" which is hooked up to my 50" Sammy and Home Theater receiver. So I stand by my statement that the Wii offers me nothing except a gimmicky controller. Again, that's just me, and I'm sure it will do very, very well... but not my cup of tea.

I can't belive you're comparing buing a videogame system to purchasing cable TV. They are two completely different forms of entertainment.

I'll get one or two driving games and maybe 1 shooter or so... but it's pretty much sports games both offline and online for me.
No way I'd sit in my house and pretend to play tennis or football with a controller like that. I'd rather be outside really doing it... and if I was to stay inside and play Madden or something, I'd rather button mash then look like an idiot dancing around the room after spending $450 or so total to do so...

My PS3 will be yummy when I hook it up via HDMI to my 1080p TV. Now, just need to decide which 1080p TV I want

DLP has a shorter life than LCD does. DLP has a bunch of moving mirrors in it to make it work. That scares me when you spending that amount of money. Granted most places offer an exteded warranty.. What generally happens right after the warranty runs out. Things start breaking...

i have a 50" Sony LCD Projection... no complaints here... i compared it side by side with the Samsung 50" DLP... my eyes prefered the Sony over the Samsung... sports, videogames, discovery channel are all amazing...

Never had a problem with my viewing angle.. and I've had as many as 8-10 people sitting and watching a game plus others up and around socializing while watching it... some from very hard angles (almost 90 degrees on either side)... never any problems. This may have been a problem with DLP's when they were first released, but I've never seen a problem on my, or anyone else's DLP what I've watched (probably 3 or 4 different brands)....

I've never seen any information that would indicate this to be true. Check out the manufacturers projected life on LCD's and DLP's and they are pretty much the exact same...

There are even some high-end front projectiors (LCD and DLP) that are 1080p... but they cost a pretty penny as well...

This tells that the mirrors are moving parts.

Moving parts on a tv kind of scares me.
This shows that the lamp will last for 8,000 hours and costs 250 bucks to replace.

This shows that a lcd tv will last 60,000 hours

And the links you gave showed the bulb life which is common knowledge as well as the standard 60k hours which is what is advertised for LCDs and Plasmas nowadays. That's not indicitive of the DLP TV life though. Anyone who buys a DLP knows (or should know) that the bulb is a wear item on these sets and will only last ~2-4 years depending on your TV habits. Not a big deal. Even if you replace the bulb 4 times over the course of say 8-16 years of owning the TV (total cost of $1000), you're still WAAAAAAY ahead of what the price for an equivilent size and resolution LCD TV would have cost you. But the DLP TV itself will last the same 60,000 hours, if not more since the bulb can be changed when it goes bad, but the LCD picture will eventually just fade and nothing can be replaced to fix it.

It's only recently (last couple of years) that it's made it into consumer electronics... so it's not like they just came up with this yesterday and started selling DLP sets. If it still scares you that there's moving parts in the set then it is what it is... but honestly, I wouldn't even think about it b/c it will last for a loooong time. I mean, cars have thousands of moving parts.. yet if they're built right... will last for decades and decades. So I wouldn't let that bother you just like it hasn't bothered millions of DLP owners world-wide.

A low price and innovative controller could push Nintendo's Wii console to the top spot in Japan's multi-billion dollar video gaming market, two industry watchers say.
