Well the new Zelda is getting perfect reviews everywhere. I just pre-ordered it (<24 hours before release. Is that a pre-order? ) Not the Switch version, the Wii U version. I'll wait it out on the Switch at least until the fall or so.
Apparently the only differences between the two versions is the Switch version has "more realistic environment sounds" () or something and the Switch version (based off comparison videos) has a brighter color scheme. The Wii U version has "darker tones"
But honestly I am a bit reserved on the Switch at the moment. I feel like it caters to people who want to play video games at home AND on-the-go. Personally if I am in the mood to play video games I want to do it at home. I doubt Nintendo has anything to make it more enticing to home console gamers. It's like having a Nintendo DS and only playing it when you're home on the couch. You can do it, but it wasn't really designed for that.
If there were some games that were intended solely for home play--while the console is on the dock and able to use more resources-- then that would be ideal. However I don't see Nintendo doing that.
I am getting one, pending third party support. Monster Hunter is a game I can pour hundreds of hours into, but it was a lot easier when it was dual platform (3DS/Wii U) and I could play on my TV.
I could never get into the Zelda games much, the furthest I got was in the SNES version, and even then I didn't beat it. I'd probably play Mario Kart with friends a lot, but other than that it's not a must-have title.
How does multiplayer work with the switch? Is there multi-console play or something, LAN-party style?
We played bomber man..a game I used to love...controls felt shitty. We tried 1 2 Switch...terrible. for little kids.
He is in LOVE with Zelda. It seemed OK. For all the amazing reviews. It might be TOO open world and TOO RPG for me. Having to get ingredients and mix potions and shit. I want the clear cut missions and objectives of past Zeldas.
I might end up getting it in the future if I run into one...but Im not in a hurry.
I have no idea why 1 2 Switch wasn't included with the system. $50 for a collection of 28 minigames. Even people reviewing it and giving it extra points for being Nintendo are saying Wii Sports was better.
This looks to me like something young kids could easily break? I watched one of the swtich promo videos and not a young kid in site. They were marketing it to 20 somethings. Yeah the girl next door wants you to come over and play Switch on her balcony.
Dude Zelda for SNES was one of the best SNES and games of all time. Probably my favorite Zelda but admittedly I didn't play all the post 64 ones.
I did read the graphics are smoother on portable mode vs docked since portable limits performance. You can see some framerate issues in docked mode.
That's very unlike Nintendo to have hardware issues right off the bat. Limitations like battery life are to be expected, sure. But the framerate issues?
The console is new and perhaps not optimized yet, and I would not be surprised if it's still more reliable than whatever Microsoft and Sony will manage to come up with.

Bomberman was my shit. I must have played at least five or six different versions of it since I was a kid. Kind of disappointing to hear. I used to get in fights with my brother, was the first game I remember ever rage quitting on
I am no longer super hyped for video games anymore, and my patience has paid off thus far. No need to add to the never ending list of Steam games I will never touch, or aggravating wait for upcoming titles.
There's nothing about the Switch that makes it an immediate must-buy for me, and the reviews from people I know isn't helping much either.

My friends last preorder is supposed to be arriving today and they gave me dibs on it since I hooked them up with my spare NES Classic. I'm very much debating about taking as I'll be sitting home for nearly the next month baby sitting construction workers. I'm not even done with day one, and Im bored as shit.
I finally got home at about 11:30pm after running errands after the workers left for the day.
After taking care of some stuff and getting ready for bed, I finally set my Switch up at about 12:30am...I got in bed, turned on Zelda...and 1 minute after it started I passed out
Played it a little this morning. I'm in to it so far.
And because of the state of my home at the moment, I only have it set up for handheld. The dock and everything is still in the box.
I've been playing Zelda on Wii U a bit lately. I haven't gotten too far in it yet, but I do like it Back when they announced the game they drew comparisons to the first Zelda for NES. It's an open world and you have to make your own discoveries as far as what to do, where to go, etc. A lot of the high points come from making those discoveries, solving puzzles (although most have been overly easy so far..) and uncovering new stuff with the game. IMO it's rewarding in and of itself. That said, I can understand why some wouldn't really be into that. I have noticed a few areas where the framerate drops a bit. Mostly areas where a lot of stuff is going on. I only know of two places where it was noticeable. As usual, people on the internet make it sound much worse than it really is
Also there is absolutely nothing special about the Wii U version specifically -- meaning they don't make any real use of the gamepad. With other Zelda games at least you could manage your inventory without bringing up the menu screen. Not here.
Am I the only one that didn't really see the appeal with the newer Zelda games?
Compared to Horizon, the combat in Zelda looks pitiful. I understand Zelda has a great open world feel, and unique boss fights, but I couldn't really get into any of them after the SNES version.
Apparently there is a lot of speculation about some heavy kind of DLC for the new Zelda. Some rumor about a whole new island to explore. I seriously doubt that, though. Would be several more gigs

And then of course now that it's fall, Nintendo is tempting me with that Super Mario Odyssey bundle. fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck I was really hoping to hold out a bit longer
so for those who don't want to pay for the Pro controller, this bluetooth adapter and USB to USB-C will allow you to use your old PS4,PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360 or X1 controllers.
Rumors of 2 new Switches this fall. E3 likely to have more info.
Still no Switch sitting in my living room but I will have to keep an eye out for anything new. Now that they have Mario Maker 2 in the works I'm sure Mario Maker for Wii U will be over and done with Servers will get shut down
