Question NFSU2 - PS2 Online - What's your ID?

So who's racing online tonight? My ID is RedRSXGrrl. I'm still only 55% done for my career mode, so I haven't had all the level 3 perf mods unlocked.

See you online!

I need to figure out how to hook mine up, does anybody know if I can hook it up to my laptop? We have a wireless network at my house and obviously my ps2 doesn't have a wireless connection, is there a way to use my laptop as a relay?

I use a regular cat5 cable for mine. How about connecting to a switch or hub?

I think you may need to get a router. Most ethernet cards don't have an "input" jack like modems do, so the relay idea probably won't work.

actually.... if you share your internet (wireless) connection and use a crossover cable, you should be able to do it... But I've never shared a wireless connection before nor do I know if it's possible to share a wireless connection... Maybe I'll check it out later.

Let me know, the modem and router are downstairs so is not really an option for me to connect hardwired to those, if theres a way I can use the connection that my computer has that would be awesome.

Ok...I just checked my wireless connection and I can share it. I don't have a crossover cable to test it out, but you should be able to share that connection and hook a crossover cable for your PS2 to use that internet connection.

Do I need to set anything up on my computer to allow it? I just hook it up from my computer's ethrenet port to the playstation's with a ethrenet cord? I tried it earlier and it couldn't find any connection.

Which Operating system are you running? Do you see a wireless connection under your network connections?

You have to get a crossover cable. A regular ethernet cable won't work.

I run XP Home, Whats the difference between a crossover cable and an ethernet cable? If I go to like Best Buy will they be able to hook it up with the right thing?

I do see wireless connection under network connections.

right click on the wireless connection - properties - advanced
and you should see an area where you can check to share that connection.

Here's what I found on Best Buy's website: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....1&type=product
might want to ask them if you could return it after it's been opened in case this whole thing doesn't work.

Under wireless connection advanced there isn't a share connection option. There is one under LAN network connections... I'll go check out Best Buy tommorow.

I was able to change the settings to allow sharing, but I get this error message, "Internet connection sharing cannot be enabled. A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing." What should I do now? I'm also using a crossover cable now.

I think I made a mistake... I guess when you do that, the laptop acts as a router and it's going to conflict with the existing router on your network.

I looked around to see what you could use and I didn't know they have these (Best Buy): http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....7&type=product

If you have DSL or Cable, this one should work just fine: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Links...oductDetail.do
