In fact, a couple of times I have purchased a game on eBay (go figure ) but it was scratched or didn't play for some reason, and I have gone to the local GameStop, explained that to them and asked if I could swap it out for a new and working one, and they have done it. They typically open the new one so it can't be returned as new... but they have done that for me. Best Buy did it for me once as well... and on a game that I scratched b/c I moved the system, but did not buy from them.

So if stores are willing to do that when they KNOW the item was not purchased from their store, then buying an item and returning the same exact item containing all of the correct parts (except the defective console) in a box where the console and box serial numbers match cannot be illegal.

Immoral? Yes, but that's subjective. Illegal, I'm leaning towards no.

meh, fuck gamestop

I'm so fucking pissed I could kill somebody. I bought my first 360 in June of 06, it lasted till Oct. 30th. Kept freezing up all the time so I took it back to BB for a new one. Yesterday I get the unplayable disc error, never ever had it happen before, now every game displays that error. I take it back to BB tonight and they make me go home and get a game so they can test it. I'm pissed but I do it, the Geek checks it out and says it's bad. I get a new one, get home and hook it up. I'm loading the update and I get a can't complete update error. I turn it off and fire it up...the three red rings come up. It's 9:45 and I know they only have one left. I haul ass back there and snag the last one as they're closing. I get this one home hook it up and all I get is the 360 logo. I shut it down, turn it back on...the three red rings. I'm am pissed off beyond belief.

Wow, this is just plain bad luck. Did you check that you had your power cord in all the way. You know, maybe in all the frustation, you thought you hooked it in all the way. Make sure you hear it click. Red lights have come on for ALOT of people and its been becuase of power cord not in all the way.

Get this...I took the second one back to another BB on Saturday and exchanged it for #3, got it home, hooked it up, same shit. I checked the mfg date on the 3 bad ones, all 12-9-06. Took the third one back and found one with a 6-19-06 mfg date. Took it home and all is well, other than I forgot to swap my old hard drive. Oh well, I'm just glad to have a system back. Three days with no racing, I was climbing the walls.

Yeah...I disconnected everything and reconnected it on all three consoles. Kept getting the three rings and the UEM saying service required, please contact Microsoft. On the bright side, I can now disconnect and repackage a complete 360 in about 5 minutes.
