I'm Down Right Fierce!
I'm not even mad at the price point tbh - sure its $100 more than the PS4, but it does include the Kinect module (which hopefully is better than the previous iteration) and motion control appears to be the direction M$ is going.
But the fact that they won't let Xbox One users:
1. Rent games (not supported at launch - and I personally don't rent games, but the option was always there);
2. Sell used games freely;
3. Let others borrow my games freely;
4. Play games without mandatory check ins every 24 hours (probably to stop Xbox hack/emulator consoles)
Is flat out retarded. FFS, if I buy a game, I should be allowed to sell/trade-in/lend my copy to whoever I want.
I also stopped having to ask my mommy if I could play games when I turned 10; now as an adult, I need to ask big brother every 24 hours if i can? Please.
I love my 360, but this bullsh*t M$ is forcing on the Xbox One?
Ain't nobody got time for that.

They just aren't doing themselves any favors:
In an interview filmed prior to Microsoft’s E3 2013 press briefing and published on GameTrailers, Microsoft’s Don Mattrick has addressed concerns about the compulsory connectivity requirements of Xbox One.
“"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it’s called Xbox 360,” said Mattrick.
“If you have zero access to the Internet, that is an offline device.”
Mattrick is aware of the kinds of gamers who’ll be missing out on Xbox One, and “absolutely” anticipated some blowback, but went on to reiterate he feels they have made the right call.
“
I don’t even know what it means to be on a nuclear sub but I’ve got to imagine it’s not easy to get an internet connection.
“Seriously, when I read the blogs and thought about who’s really the most impacted there was a person who said, ‘Hey I’m on a nuclear sub.’ And I don’t even know what it means to be on a nuclear sub but I’ve got to imagine it’s not easy to get an internet connection. But hey, I can empathise; if I was on a sub I’d be disappointed.
“It’s a service-based world, if you think about things and how they get better with an internet connection, that’s a design choice we’ve made. I think people will appreciate it... We did a lot of testing, a lot of consumer research and I think we made a good choice.”

^ That right there is such a retarded statement from Microsoft.
Service based world? Consider this. The military has MWR (Moral, Wellfare, and Recreation) centers all around the world. They are one of the most relaxing centers for soldiers deployed all over the world because they offer free entertainment, including movies and video games of all sorts. So hey Microsoft! It's kinda hard getting internet connection while sitting in Kuwait/Iraq in a tent! It's not a service based world over there!

If your internet goes down for a few days do you not get to use it?

That's one of the big concerns regarding the always-online.
Many big name companies are doing that now... using always-online to prevent piracy. Of course, companies wouldn't outright proclaim that because it'd be media suicide. They mask it under the veil of some other BS to quell the fury of the uninformed.
I knew quite a few people who had modified Xboxes and 360s, they couldn't play online but offline games were fine.

I think it should stay that way too. If you want to mod and play by yourself, go right ahead, but when it comes to online, disable or ban those who have modded. It's that simple.
With making people "check in" every 24 hours, some people won't be able to play their games.

What are the chances that some of the policies will change?? Also do you think EA and them will follow their policy?? I'm guessing they will since it will be easier to do so instead of creating their own one.

I hope they change the used game policy.
I know it's a few months until release...but they HAVE to realize it's going to destroy the community, their sales, and sales from people who like to buy and trade used games.
We're already paying for the game, why pay for it again?
And as for checking in every 24 hours, that's BS. Make this console like every one before it, offline capabilities.
Just because 85% of the population has a stable internet connection, doesn't mean EVERYONE has internet. (Got that percentage from a video on YouTube, even if it's a guess, it still proves a point). There are those who want a new console, who want to play new games, but don't have internet. It's not fair to alienate those people and leave them out of their consumer pool.

I don't like the used game hammer they laid down.
but I really wish people would stop bitching about the internet connection checks.. we know damn well 95% of those people will set that thing up with a connection in their entertainment center and never move it anyways... ever since the online multiplayer age took off, I have yet to have an actual lan party since.
we play online these days, plain and simple. its not really a hinder for anyone except that occasional old school gamer that only plays single player games, and chances are, even that guy has wifi in his house..
but the used game rules can suck a dick.

I myself have a constant internet connection at my house, but my gf does not. And well, it sucks now. With the new system, I wouldn't be able to play at all.

How does she not have a constant internet connection??
Also you may be slightly confused about the used game policy. The only thing wrong with the used game policy is you have to go through official retailers I believe. I'm guessing things like gamestop.
But they need to change it so theres a way for me to sell it on ebay, which i dont think is possible under the current policy.
What they also should do is that if your lending it, have a simple form on smartglass or online that you just enter your friends gamertag and the lenght of the loan. That way the game becomes inactive on your account for that certain time and only active on their account.
Unfortunately as long as you can download the game onto the hard drive from the disc, they're going to have online checks for obvious reasons.

talk about living in the dark ages.
I live at home in the summer and college otherwise. Ok well she isn't going to get a xbox one. If you can't afford internet, you can't afford an xbox one, so there's that also

People are said the infrastructure wasn't there for streaming movies..and it happened YEARS ahead of when people said it would.
7-10 years....I'll be conservative and say less than 5, but I think its coming faster than that.

Both systems are listed as supporting 4k...4k tvs are hitting the market whether we want it or not (even at absurd costs).

Not to mention that when it goes mainstream, using 4K on a computer is going to take up an enormous amount of space and CPU.
Personally I don't see it coming out mainstream in the next 5 years. I think it'll be around of the people with the $$$ but not as common as normal HD is today.

I dunno about that. There is no physical media that can hold 4K (yea I know it's dying but still relevant). In order to stream all the ISP's will have to seriously upgrade their services to handle the HUGE increase in load. Not to mention getting a 4K television. A lot of the professional world (aside from cinema) there is very little in the way of 4K cameras so far.

People made the same comments about streaming 1080p...it happened WAY faster than people thought.
Cameras...
RED (Mysterium 5k sensor, upcoming 6k dragon sensor)
F65 (up to 8k)
F55 (4k)
f5 (4k)
FS700 (4k capable with recorder)
C500 (4k capable with recorder)
1Dc
Upcoming Panavision 70mm digital (8k)
etc etc etc
Space, people said the same about 1080p...codecs and compression improved, hard drives got bigger and cheaper...its all progressive.
I stand by it...less than 5 years.
