now that schools out I've got a little more free time. I hear everyone talking about socom on here all the time...can I get in on the action?

I'm going to pick up the game tonight. I know you guys are all experts but give me a week at it and I'll catch up.

whats the best way to get good? should I play the levels, or is there something online?

give me some advice....
any tips or tricks or anything?

 

play the regular missions....familiarize yourself with the interface, then play online

 

personally... playing single player just distracted me from online... i see little similarities.

just get on and play... weve got plenty of n00bs... Ern just picked up the game last week

play the single game player for like a day just to familiarize yourself with the controls and then just get online and find us. we'll help you out!

Thats the best part of the game! Make sure you have a headset.

 

Yeah, it's key. We warn each other where the enemy is, what we're going to do, etc. Communication is key!

yes u will just play it as much as possible I haven't played in about 4 days and I suck monkey balls u just have to practice .

 

Some things I noticed yesterday while you were playing:

1) If you're following an enemy (when you were on blizzard), make sure you're close enough and have them lined up in your sights before you shoot. What you did was shoot after they turned a corner, that just gives away your position. If you don't have the shot, keep following until you feel comfortable or until you think your position is compromised.

2) You should use the radar more. If the map is a demolition map, you can see where the bomb is in relation to your position. If your team picks up the bomb you will see a yellow arrow to indicate where you have to go to plant the bomb. If the enemy picks it up, a red arrow will appear, and you should rush back to the base before they plant it.

Some more stuff that I can't remember atm...

 

yeah don't need to be down the guys throat to shoot and kill him too...

got to remember they usually run in packs, so if you see one guy on the map ahead of you and you run behind him to catch up to shoot him in the back, chances are your going to get wacked in the back by one of his teammates... my advise.. STAND up and throw grenandes in the direction he is running... throw them out in front of him if he is on the MOVE.. if you see him idle.. then whip them at him..

 

I think the first week I played I had 18 kills and 100 deaths. We all suck the first couple weeks, it just takes some getting used to.

 

I sucked horribly when I first started (around January). I had a 1:10 kill/death ratio or worse
