LCD monitor recommendations

Any here use an LCD monitor for gaming? I'm looking to get a 17" but I'm worried about ghosting, etc. with FPS games. I know the 8ms monitors have made LCDs good for gaming but I wanted to see whether anyone here can give me some real-world experiece.

i have the dell ultrasharp 1905...decent, but it does have ghosting at times

I've heard that the issue with the 8 ms lcd's is that they have a more narrow viewing angle

Check out the new Sonys with XBRITE. They are expensive, but the picture quality is amazing.

If you know anybody that subscribes to Maximum PC, they recently did a roundup of LCD's with gaming performance as one of the primary considerations. At least, that's what I remember my friend showing me.

Cool. I think I'll head to Barnes and Noble and check it out. Thanks.

I personally use the Dell 2001FP 20.1" monitor. It is rated at a full color 16ms gray to gray response time. No detectible ghosting. Excellent, and can still be had for $450 with Dell stackable coupons.

Well, I just ordered a new Dell 1905FP for $299. Hopefully it'll work for games, I couldn't pass up the 40% off deal I saw at Dealcatcher.

"With four USB 2.0 ports, two located on the side of the display, the 1905FP enhances your visual experience." Why do I need USB ports on my monitor?

I would recommend the Samsung 172x. It's got a 12ms panel, and the contrast ratio is excellent. It's super thin and looks hella cool. The only downside is that it doesn't pivot.
This monitor used to cost over $400 when it cameout. Newegg has is on special for $200 this week, after two rebates!

I found the link through www.techbargains.com

I would love to have 4 USB 2.0 ports on my monitor!!! easy hook-ups for digital cameras, Mp3 players, PDA's, geez there are a myriad of USB devices these days!! of course if you don't have any USB devices to hookup, you might wonder what they're for... do you have any?

synth19 just got a Dell 2005FPW... maybe I'll install some games on his computer so he can comment on the gaming experience - he doesn't game.

there is a deal on the dell 1905 lcd monitor for 299 check this out.

Dell Small Business has the Dell 1905FP 19" DVI LCD for $499 - 40% off coupon BV9QW3GBZBNGCG = $299 w/ free shipping.

also the hyundai(that's right the car company) 19 L90D is suppose to be a great gaming monitor(8ms response rate). you'll find this monitor for around 320-350 on the net.

i have the 2005fpw and play games, too bad my vid card sucks

games look good, but i find that you really cant enjoy it unless you have a beefy enough vid card to run it at a widescreen res and also native res...which looks sick

I shouldn't haven't any prob's with my 6600GT. I heard there were some drawbacks to the super fast LCDs.
