Just got Guitar Hero for the 360

Frickin awesome man! I play this all the time at work when I'm on break/lunch and finally I bring one home. Seen friends play it at their house but never tried it. Anyone else pick it up?

I only have one gripe.... the strum bar gets sticky when you strum down sorta hard. Anyone else having this problem?

I wanna get that...I've only played it once at the store but on PS2. Is it any different? How is it so far and how much did you pay for it?

Its different from the PS2 version. Graphics are better, there's more music albeit its more scrambled, i.e. the songs under the "opening licks" aren't the same for both consoles, I haven't found any downloadable content yet though. It looks a lot more refreshing though. The graphics just seem different, and the guitar looks different, though there's no difference in play. I just pick it up and its as easy to play as the PS2 version.

Only thing is, I barely started career mode and I haven't unlocked any songs. At work every single song was unlocked. I paid $86.59 for it because I had an employee discount. Nothing special, they just knocked off about $10 including taxes.

So, do it simulate real guitar playing? Do you have to be a fan on playing a guitar?

If I get really good at it, can I join a band?

I plan on getting this for my bday unless I can get the $ to buy it after getting the Elite. My roommate has it for the PS2 and that is really fun to play. For some reason though my pinky is retarded and I cannot get used to actually pushing the button down.. so I"ll have to work on that.

Anyways I wish they would come out with a version that would analyze any song and you could just play that song. That would make this game the ultimate game.

I just got it for the 360 as well. So far I just tried it out for a few minutes just to see the graphics. Not much improvement really. It's just more crisp and sharper over the PS2. Not that big a deal. GH is not about graphics. The first thing I noticed was the first openning songs were different. No "Mother" to start. I just played one song to try out the controls. It seems like the 360 is much more responsive on my HDTV than the PS2. I can't wait for the downloadable content. I hope Metallica, maybe even some Sepultura, is in the near future. Anyway, so far I'm liking the 360 version more. My only regret is that none of my other 6 guitars for the PS2 will work for the 360. I would love to use my double range Freedom V on the 360. Hopefully a wireless guitar for the 360 comes out soon and hopefully in a different color so I can add another guitar to my collection.

If you're thinking about getting GHII for the 360, I would wait a bit if I were you... and I would read this article:

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/06/xb...-common-threa/

Looks like my strum bar problem isn't the only problem with the new GHII. Supposedly, a lot of people are having problems with their whammy bar. I don't have a problem at all with the whammy bar, but after only strumming down when I played GHII on the PS2, I'm not strumming up all the time with my 360. Haven't read about any problems with the strum bar, even in the blog comments.

Funny thing is, the part no. on the box is 95055, and the number on the UPC is 95065. Mine has the pedal jack near the strap and headset input, so its actually a 95065.

I wonder if I can return this or not or get it exchanged. It seems kinda awkward though, because I got it at work, and I don't wanna exchange it for a guitar with a faulty whammy bar. And if I wait too long the return period will expire.

My little bro's been telling me about this game for a couple of weeks. I finally went to his place on Friday to see and try it out. Yesterday I bought a 360 Premium AND Guitar Hero. Guess I liked the game, huh?

Now I need to sell my modded XBOX to recover some of the cost. My wife was NOT pleased, to put it mildy.

Its a good thing that forgivness is easier to get than permissions.. Sometimes ya just gotta do it...

I have been playing the hell out of it. I have not had any problems with the guitar. I have a question though. Are there certain long notes that you cannot whammy?

There are some that seem less whammyable. I've beat the game on easy, but Medium is QUITE a step up.

Yeah, I beat easy no problem. Mostly 3-4 stars.... Went to medium, muddled through the first track, went back to easy.. Figured I would try and get all 5 stars on all the songs. THEN go back to mdium... Tried hard just for shits and giggles... Ya right... I must be getting old because my fingers dont moves as fast as they once did...

How in the hell do you hit that orange tab... Its killing me.

I beat it on easy pretty quickly. Never had a problem with failing a song. Got 4-5 stars on each song.

Stepped up to medium right away and again didn't have a huge problem although I did have a few 3 star tracks.

On medium you get an encore after you complete 4 songs in a set. The encore is a new track with you "un-lock"

I started it again on hard now and it's fucking insane. It's very fast and having to move your hand up and down the frets to reach the orange button is quite the challenge!

Yeah, I got a red and blue wireless Freedom V from TAC, the double range Freedom V from TAC, the Red SG Guitar from Red Octane, the wireless X-Plorer guitar from Nyko, and the regular SG guitar. I still need the white wireless one from Red Octane to complete the colletion. Well now I also got the X-Plorer for the 360.

It all started when I bought the Cherry Red SG guitar as an extra controller and when I found out other companies are making controllers for it, I just started collecting them everytime a new one comes out, even if it's just a simple color change. I don't use them all the time. It's just for collecting sake. I only use the double range Freedom V when I play by myself and if someone comes over to play atleast they have a selection to choose from. Hopefully a new guitar comes out for the 360 that is atleast a different color so I don't have to get the same exact one to play two players. I could be patient since I can just use the PS2 whenever someone wants to play together.

Is anyone jamming online? My bro has Guitar Hero II on the 360, but we haven't played together on XBOX Live since I don't have a membership. Can we play together with the free silver level membership that comes with the 360?

I just beat it on medium tonight. THinking about using cheat code to unlock all songs, but I'm not sure yet.
Most of my performances are 3 star with the occasional 4 star. I may go bacl through medium and get those up to 4 or 5 stars before I try "HArd" Anyone else beat it on medium?

You guys will get good soon. When I first played GHII a month ago I started out with medium. Then I eventually did Strutter on hard, the easiest "hard" song 2 weeks later.

This guy at my work who usually plays on medium tried Strutter on hard... he got 5 stars, 100% notes hit with a 556 note streak. Didn't miss a single one.

So I attracted a crowd while I was playing GH2 for XBox at BestBuy. First time playing xbox version .. the guitar felt EXTREMELY uncomfortable after half of Sweet Child o'Mine. ;[

Yeah I beat it on medium over easter weekend. Most of my songs were 4 stars. I tried on hard but realized I needed more practice first. I've started to go back and play all the songs on medium again to get 5 stars.

Haven't played since Saturday though.

Frets On Fire, anyone heard of this? It's the PC version of Guitar Hero, and it's FREE! The Guitar Hero controller even works with it in the USB port of your PC!

I a redoing all my Guitar Hero songs on MEdium since I beat the game. Most I have improved from 3 starts to 4 or 5, and consistenyly 90+ % (despite my typeing skill this late on a friday!)

Man.... I might actually get this.
I have always always wanted to play guitar hero, but couldn't really justify buying a console just for this one game.

Can you get all the songs for it, like you can for Stepmania/DDR?

Does it have the same interface as that of the 360...with career mode etc.?

You start off with a limited amount of songs, then you have to play in career mode to win more songs. Fair enough, IMO, plus keeps you motivated to keep on playing career mode.

Since Frets on Fire is an open source deal for the PC, it's a little simpler UI, but the notes and frets work the same way. I used my guitar hero guitar to do all the same things, including the whammy bar. Plus there's more flexibility in songs: there are more than 200 songs available for this game (can you say bittorrent?) and thebest of all the game itself is free!

I have a question.... On the box it says yo can play bass, back up and lead guitar, but I have no idea how to do that in the game. I looked through the book and couldnt find it.. Is that just reserved for multiplayer?
