I UPDATED to version 2.00!!!
I figured it out. Here are the directions:
PSP 2.00 Update
To install, use a USB cable and drop the UPDATE folder (including eboot.pbp)
into the PSP/GAME folder, then run the application under the GAME header on
your PSP.
If you do not have a GAME folder create one. Then create an UPDATE folder inside of it. They have to be in caps. When you go to the GAME header click on memory stick and you will see the update file. Click on that and there you go. Apparently, you have to have a full battery or it will not let you update.

I asked that same question. When I was updating it give me a warning that you will not be able to got back to another firmware version. I think that if the US version is 2.01 or higher you should be able to update.

I upgraded my brothers who has 1.51 and cant play emulated games. It is hot as hell, but i rather have my 300 NES, 150 SNES and over 200 Genesis games on my PSP all at once. I cant browse the web while i'm waiting somewhere without wireless internet, but i can play one of over 500 classic games that i have.

DDT explained it pretty well
i think sony shouldve told people or have it automatically do it on set up, format the memory stick within the PSP cause when you do that it creates all the folders and subfolders you need

sweet i just dled it and now i can go on www.singingfish.com an directly dl songs to my psp (hot).
I think another useful feature of the browser is the ability to read html offline. I used a CHM decompiler to produce some books and use the PSP to read them offline. It's great when your ass is stuck in traffic/on the bus.
just put them in the PSP->Common folder (create any subfolders here) and you point to it in the browser:
file:/psp/common/myfolder/harrypotter/index.html
niiiiiice.

if you guys want psp info, go to pspupdates.com. You can get all the exploit tools and hacks over there. Both me and my bro were up state and while i was playing my psp with all my roms he was browsing the net on the wireless router we have in the house. When finished beating Revenge of Shinobi, i decided to load up my homebrew browser and go online. When he was finished, he begged me to play my games. I took the time to check out 2.0. While 2.0 is hot as shit with the themes and the easy to use web browser, i wouldnt upgrade until 2.0 exploits are made. If i am home, i will be using my laptop for the net, if i am on the road, the browser is decent enough, but i have made my own portal, using google as an address bar, and it works just as well minus the analog mouse pointer. As far as having backgrounds, i find it awesome, but can live without it because i am not in the menu that often. Once again, i rather have pacman, punchout, super mario, sonic, streets of rage, golden axe...........You guys get the point.
PSP 2.0 firmware on AUGUST 12
PSP 2.0 firmware on AUGUST 12
Official US release.
What's so funny to me is that I read alot of comments on how they use their PSP to play emu games...the old shit. What's ironic is that no one will pay shit to play those types of games in this 3D era but people are willing to buy a $250+ psp to play those types of games. Just seems ironic. But whatever floats your boat.
