I have a 1000baseT nic in the PC

I have a 1000baseT router

I have a 1000baseT cable modem

I used an old Cat5 cable that was only capable of 100baseT (didn't realize this, becomes important shortly).

I was wicked wicked frustrated with the slow connection speed.

It never occurred to me to RTFM for the modem and see why that "connection" light was amber and not blue.

I swapped the cable and the light cried out to me in blue "you idiot, why didn't you do this two months ago when you bought the damn modem!"




Like I said, I am an idiot.

 

Transferring some big files over the LAN?

its ok i still have a 100baseT set up in my house.

then again my DSL router i think is only 100
