There are separate modes in the game for taking pics. In GT mode, you first choose the car you want to take pictures of, and then choose a track from "World Circuits", "Original Circuits" etc. Choose the option for Photo, and then drive a few laps at the track. After you are done, the replay starts... you hit SELECT to freeze the frame and go into Photo mode - this is where you take the pics. Once you set the options (pretty much all the standard ones from an SLR camera) - you hit X and you hear a shutter sound (incidentally you can choose between 20-some shutter sounds - go figure) - and then the PS2 renders the shot, and you can save it to a USB-key/flashdrive that you have in one of the PS2's USB slots, and then transfer that to a PC, and post for all to see.

And there is also a "Free Roam" mode called Photo Travel - that can get you the long-exposure shot of the white Silvia you see above. You can choose between some 20 "settings" to take your picture, and I believe this mode has even more options and settings than the other photo mode. And can you believe this, I haven't even tried this mode yet!!! Honestly imo the whole photo mode aspects of GT4 are like, a completely separate game in GT4... it's so fun and addictive and bad ass, all at the same time. It honestly distracts me from racing!!

oh yeah once you hit SELECT, there are 64 camera viewpoints to choose from, that you cycle through. From each of these viewpoints, you can adjust camera zoom, camera height, panning, rotation, and so on and so forth. You can adjust exposure, f-stop, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, and a few other things I'm forgetting. I think there are even more options in the Photo Travel mode - you position the car where you want it manually (as opposed to driving it around the track) - and adjust view angles and so on and so forth.

srika - needs to try Photo Travel mode asap.

How do you get pics like this with the cars driving by? I don't have any other cars around me when I'm doing photo mode in a race or the travel mode where the car is sitting still. Also, where is the shutter speed setting?

If you go into the Shibuya location, all the pictures are like that. You can't make it happen, it's just set up that way. You can only position your car around the light streaks, not create them.

I just tried the Photo Travel mode, I dunno but I like the interface of the racing mode better, maybe I just am too used to it.... it's more intuitive and easier to use

anyone know how to get pics from actual races? Or with other cars in them? Like this for example...

It even has the little Gran Turismo stamp in the lower right corner, so i figured it has to be from some photo mode. Any ideas?

You need one of those USB Memory/Storage Media. Get it, and just stick it into PS2!
