Game suggestions for the Mac

I need some suggestions for time killers while riding the train home. Anyone?

Preferences/criterea:

Hardware - Macbook Pro
train = no internet
I don't like RTS games
I've already played or I'm not interested in the shooters available on the Mac
Low tech freebies are fine as long as they're fun

Sims 2 is a fun offline game, at least building the houses is fun.

ah, i was gonna say sim city, Any of them. Doesn't matter how much i play it, I can always come back and play it for a few hours more.

Other sim games aswell like rollercoaster tycoo, um simant, and oregon trail.
>_>

I suppose you don't have the bootcamp thingy going though or you wouldn't have specified mac games, but just for the heck of it, if you can find Ignition for the pc. It's a birds eye view totally non simulation racing game. It was great fun but quite old now.

hmm tough thread. not sure about you, but if i was 35 I would feel a little dumb playing sim games on the train.

how about a sports game? fifa? maybe a fighting game? a puzzle game seems like it would work nicely, but not sure what is out there. ever play the myst games(The last one sucked IMO, but it was the only one of the series i've played).

Always a possibility but I'm trying to avoid Bootcamp if at all possible. You can do virtualization via Parallels but I'm pretty sure that it does not support DirectDraw, Direct3D, and so forth within the virtual machine.

You coudl probably use crossover office mac. I used to be able to use wine to play a couple small games from windows in linux, heck live for speed worked.

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/ I though I saw a test of wine gaming once and it took something like 15 percent overhead.
