Is there pass defense finally? I've always had problems with NFL video games because safeties always bite and allow the bomb.

 

Yup... the default (Pro) is a little easy... but once you bump it up to All-Pro.. it's on . Plus, in ESPN the AI learns your tendancies... so if you run the same play or throw to the same receiver a lot the CPU will adjust and shut you down.

 

Shut you down they will. I am still trying to run every play atleast once to get used to the plays.

Not you but video games. I love realism and 400yds rushing is ridiculous. For $15 I won't mind though.

 

its easy against the computer, but not against another person. against a friend of mine the numbers were realistic.

 

Damn... what do you know that the rest of us don't? I've been following the bulletin boards and haven't seen any stats that unrealistic.

If that's really the case you should either tweak the sliders, player better teams, or bump up the difficulty. After a while that can't be too much fun.....

 

I just run playaction a lot and immediately run it with Vick. One thing I noticed about this game is that it is a lot harder to change direction with the defenders (vs madden)... so I just change direction a lot and Vick is so fast he just weaves through everyone.

And I don't know about the defensive AI... I do pretty much the same thing over and over and they still don't guard against the QB run.

I stink at defense though so the game was still interesting... I only won by 10.

Plus it was against a crappy team.

 

LOL, you know what's funny.. go to www.espnvideogames.com , go to the NFL2k5 and check out the forums... people are ripping this game up left and right.

Funny thing is the bugs and glitches they're referring to.... I haven't had any of then ..... but I've only played 3 games, so that could be why.

 

I got my free GamePro magazine in the mail a few days ago and they reviewed both Madden 2k5 and ESPN 2k5 back to back.

The winner: ESPN 2k5. They said both games are great, but Madden is just more of the same while ESPN is something fresh and new. You can't go wrong with either game, but both games are about on par now. It's now just down to personal preference.

 

did it say when madden was coming out, i havent had time to look

 

not sure when Madden is coming out but I preorderd GT4 last night at EB Games. The guy there said it is shipping November 15th.

 

madden is scheduled for release aug 9

I played about 6 games online yesterday w/ a buddy and there were only a couple instances of slowdown/lag. If it lags bad then it goes to a black screen "waiting for opponent" with a countdown until the machines get in sync again. Also just messing around we did an obsene amount of penalties - with so it will then ask the other player if they want to quit playing and take the win since the opponent has so many penalties. Cool feature if you get in a game with some little punk and you are aftaid of quitting (doing so hurts your profile). I love how the live presentation is just like single player, and how it makes you have the same up to date rosters to prevent any cheating (although Im sure people will find ways around this with due time). So far it has been the best $15 Ive bought in a looooong time

 

why can't you madden fans be open-minded and try it...MAYBE..just MAYBEEEE espn is better. I will try madden and THEn make my final decision. as of now, ESPN is veryyyy good. I don't have much to compare to. I got BLITZ for xmas and well..hahahah no comparison..although i was there were late hits that would count for penalties in espn so if you were getting pounded on by the other team, you could still release your anger on giving extremely hurtful late hits.

I went to Target and got the PS2 one. There wasn't any XBox copies. I didn't mind since all my friends have PS2 anyways. Any difference between the two?

 

PS2 version is actually supposed to have BETTER graphics than the Xbox version (especially weather effects). I think the online features are different/better on the xbox because of LIVE though.

 

WTF. Usually Xbox owns in graphics. I've been so busy with work I haven't played it and I bought it on Tuesday.

 

See thats the difference between ESPN and Madden, when I buy Madden I am gonna suddenly come down with a 24hr virus, so I won't make it to work the next day.

 

haha no WAY..>XBOX is wayyyyyyyyyy better simply because of graphics and of LIVE...PS2 has a lame broadband hack of trying to compete with LIVE!!

I was playing the titans last night against some gangster guy online last night.
I lost 92-10!!!!!!!!!!! =) forgetting about that, with 10 seconds left in the game 4th qtr, i paued the game and the other person can see that you paused it and actually watch you as you browse through the menus,. . . i highlighted the "quit" button and he was screammming into this communicator, NO NO NO!! dont' do it! hahah then i went back over "resume" and then it was quiet, so i went BACK to quit and he was like "NOOOO!" hahahah im such a dick, but i did end up resuming and taking the loss liek a man.i think im 0-8 now!! yay! WHO WANTS TO PLAY!??!!?

 

maybe you should learn how to play before you start comparing systems.

agreed...wtf is the difference between xbox live and ps2 online? it's a nic that plugs into your high-speed internet...

 

I bought the xbox because ps2 was not up to speed a couple of years ago. Now it does not matter because I have more fun playing with the computer now that the AI will shut you down if you run the same plays.

 

I don't care about the online stuff. System vs system are there any differences in the game?

Oh I finally played. Barely beat the Bears with the Dolphins. My first drive was like from the mid of the 1st quarter to the 2nd. I was like dang, I gotta play 15 minutes quarters now. But it speeded up once I got the hang of calling plays. It's pretty good and realistic that Madison and Surtain didn't get burnt.

 

walmart was sold out so I ordered a copy from bestbuy website came out to be 21.65 or something.

So far from playing only exhibitions my only play complaint is that if you're running diagnolly (sp) and decide to run up he slows down a little too much. The change of direction is very realistic when you're cutting etc, but I think they slowed you down when you broke free and do the above. Other than that this game is badass.
