I just got my ps2 and xbox hooked up to my hdtv with component video last night. I was shocked...the difference is HUGE. Colors are brighter, contrast is better... I was seeing things in Madden I never noticed before.

Anyway, if anyone has a high def TV and is still using the stock or s video cable I strongly recommend upgrading to component. Its night and day.

what is that s-video cable for, i have the input on the back of all of my tvs, what is it for?

 

s video is a type of video connection. its better than the standard yellow rca wire, but not as good as component.

 

so i can just plug that in and leave the yellow hanging?

 

yep, if whatever device you are hooking the tv up to has an s video output.

GT4 in HD with Dolby Pro-Logic II 5.1 Audio= AWESOME.

 

I picked one up at bestbuy that had ps2 and xbox connectors on one cable. It was only like $10 and works well.

 

thats the one I got... I have both xbox and ps2 hooked up to the same set of cables, into one input on the tv.

problem with this is that for xbox to have surround sound, you need special cables with an optical audio output. this cable only has stereo output.

Isn't is just 480p and mixed audio (Dolby Pro Logic). Too bad it's not on the XBox for 720p and true Dolby Digital 5.1
