Buying the PS3 on day 1

since i've already decided to buy one on the first day, i'd like to know where is the best place to buy it: Toys R Us, Amazon, Best Buy, etc. Who will have it first and in stock the bigger bundle, the most expensive one...do we know this yet?

I need to start collecting discount coupons, gift certificates, and gift cards, etc. to ease the sticker shock.

As far as I know...it's still too early to say. You can't even preorder it yet, online, can you?

According to a few stores I went to, there will be no PS3 pre-orders. I wonder if its bs or not.

After the 360 fiasco, most places are not doing pre-orders. If you know someone that works at a store and can hold you one, then you'd be ok. If most places do first come forst serve, or lottery type things, then expect all hell on day one and any shipment day thereafter until Christmas. People went through hell just to get the 360 on launch day, it was madness.

IMO, honestly, I dont think there will be a shortage of PS3's. I can wait a while after launch to get one, especially if the launch titles aren't too great. No way I am sleeping outside and fighting with people to get one of these and worry about someone knocking me on the head once I get to the parking lot. This will be released in November, the X-mas shopping season. I may just wait until January.

Target or Best buy are probably the 2 stores that will carry the most PS3s.

I was thinking about buying a bunch and selling them on eBay, but the high price tag combined with the fact that Sony is saying there will be plenty available at launch just means that would be a waste of my time and money.

I will be buying a PS3 eventually, however, I will probably wait until next year. I have my 360 with Madden to hold me over until then...

There is no way I will buy another system on launch day. Ill give them some time to work out all the kinks and crap.

Im still debating on whether or not to even get a ps3. I got a 360 and have only played it like a dozen times.

Do you have $6000 cash?? I doubt that you can buy 10 anyways. One per person so you might have to bring your family with you.

Someone i know is a manager at a local Toys R Us and gave me 2. One for me and one for my bro. I casually walked in at like 10am, and a large group of people were like, they're sold out. So walked in got my 2, the security guard walked me to the door. Everyone looked at me as they could clearly see that i had not one but two 360's. You could tell they wanted to kill me. On the news, people were getting trampled and mugged for their 360's. It was so bad, that when the second launch came, most major retailers had either armed security or cops in the stores and parking lots. And mostly anyone that got a system was escorted to their car.

If it's within 30-days and the boxes are not opened I don't see why not.

But the odds are it will just cost you money to sell the other two since Sony is swearing there will not be any shortages (although I think that's BS). But with people already complaining about the high price, combined with plenty of hardware to go around, only morons will pay more for a system when they don't need to.

Then again, you never know with these things. The 360 was a good profit system to resell at launch, but I think the PS3 won't be pulling in much over retail since it will be so readily available and is already so expensive.

I agree with you juniorbean. The 360 also had the luxury of being the first next gen system on the market, so people who just wanted something new to replace the ps2 were going to pay to get it asap, just because it had been so long since a new system came out.

The ps3 won't benefit from that urgency that the 360 had.

The PS3's price and Sony's alleged large supply of systems should mean that there will enough for gamers needing to be first in line, but i feel that no matter the price, history shows that new systems are always hard to come by when they are released. Is till feel the Wii will be harder to get.

I don't think sony is going to pack the stores and have them easily available. It isn't their style, and they probably want all the hype about it being sold out. It makes more people want it. supply and demand.

Exactly, what way to make people go nust for for something then to release it right before Christmas, limit its availibility and give it a high price. It's not so much the initial sales that matter, it's what they sell right after Christmas.
