anyone in NYC have XBOX live?

The situation with my shitty and almost non-function xbox live is starting to get out of hand. I basically can't join any multiplayer game....lobbies are always mysteriously empty, or no games are found...This happens across games....I can sometimes connect to a GOW co-op game, and I have no problems downloading anything off marketplace.

Is anyone who has XBOX live in NYC (using time warner cable i.e. roadrunner as their ISP?) I just want to ask some questions about your setup, etc. The cable modem that TWC gave me may be the culprit, but perhaps it isn't....I've already done port forwarding, and that hasn't solved the problem. Thanks in advance.

Are you behind a router?

Run the Xbox Live connection test in the systems blade under networking. What is the result of the NAT test? If it is closed (or strict, cant remember) that means that your ports are not configured properly. This sounds like a firewall / port problem to me, I had similar symptoms before switching routers and setting my Xbox as the default DMZ server (all ports open).

Yeah, i'm behind a router. I have run all the tests, and everyting checks out...the NAT comes up as "open." I tried forwarding the necessary ports to ensure they were open, but maybe it needs to be set to the default DMZ server? I'm not really sure how to do this. The funny thing is that when I plug my xbox directly into my cable modem, I can't get it to detect a connection at all.

What type of router do you have? I can take you through the process but it is different for each router.

i have a DI-624....i think i figured it out, becuase earlier, i set up a static IP for the 360 using an online walkthrough. in the router interface, i set the IP to be a DMZ....buuut it still doesn't work....right now i am trying to play the rainbow six vegas multiplayer demo, and when i search for matches, it says operation failed (after searching for awhile)....then after a few tries i just goet disconnected from xbox live. wtf.
