I am wondering what resolutions are now supported.

In particular, I am wondering if 800x600 is now supported.

When I search the internet, I mostly get information from 2005 when the cable first came out. Back then 800x600 was not supported, but I am sure lots of updates have come out since then.

The reason I am asking, is that my primary TV is a Gateway 2000 Destination 31" monitor that has a maximum resolution of 800x600. I have a TV to VGA converter, but if it can use the SVGA directly, it would look SOOOO much better.

I do not currently own a 360, but think I might get one as there seems to be alot of good games for it now, plus I can use it as a media extender for my new Vista machine.

doesn't seem so, the only square formats I see are 640x480 and 1280x1024

1280 is a 16x9 or "rectangular" format if you will.

 

Actually, 1280x1024 is a 4:3, not a 16:9. Both are rectangular.

Here is an additional question...

If you choose a higher resolution, will it lower your framerate? I would guess it does as there are more pixels to push.

Not sure if there is any way to measure framerate, but perhaps if it is noticable to the eye?

 

youre right. i just read the 1280 part so i was assuming 1280x720 which is 16x9...and yes I realize 1.33 and 1.78 are both rectangles.
