I want a Saturn so badly just to play Nights..never got around to getting one though.

And I agree the DC was way underrated. Shenmue showed us that it could keep up with, and beat the ps2 graphics wise, and I think DC has a ton of great unique games.

 

Well I got the DC from my friend yesterday, now I have to figure out how to burn games.
Only problem is I don't know if gamestop still sells DC memory cards or extra controllers.

Now, I wonder if I should even go back further in Sega time and get a Saturn next. Can you also played burn games w/o a modchip too?

Can someone explain why Sega couldn't survive, but Nintendo still can survive?

 

Nintendo has a giant following in Asia still.

The gains that Sony and Microsoft made in the console market was in North America but in many ways, Nintendo still has quite a grip there...



As I posted earlier, Sega had relative initial success with the Dreamcast...however, being that they were not that big to start with, competing with Nintendo, Sony, and then Microsoft was too much for it to take. So, they left the console market...

Sega also made a chunk of $$$ from it's NAOMI board in arcades, however, with the power of consoles and PCs, who plays arcades anymore, really?

Also, the death of one of the founding owners of the parent company of Sega, CSK, died about 5 years ago. When this happened, the company went into a spiral and was ultimately bought out by Sammy...and now, they are one of the largest gaming companies in the world. So, Sega's not really dead.

 

Gosh the DC is pretty good system. I've been playing Quake 3 a lot again and NBA 2K2.

 

Tru plus sega lost a lot of money from saturn. The loss of money on saturn really screwed sega.

 

Does anyone living in the Chicagoland area know if there are any stores that still sell Dreamcast accessories? I need another VMU

Video game systems don't get outdated

If my friends came over and saw an atari in my house they would go nuts and play for hours.

 

Well at least the games don't. As a system without killer apps is nothing, right?

But, even just on the NES which is many years old, I still get a giant kick playing Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden II, Battletoads...the list goes on...so many timeless gems on that console.


And on that front and thread-related, the Dreamcast is no different...lots of killer apps for this "old" console...

 

Bubble bop, contra, and mario are the 3 nes games i still play with friends. Contra is SOO hard but practice makes it so much easier. Bubble bop is an awsome, fun, easy game. When people see us playing they always jump in.

The hardest NES games: try Battletoads, Blaster Master, and Silver Surfer...

 

Was silver surfer even made by sane humans. Imagine a kid getting that game. It was so damn hard;i broke many a nes controller playing that game.

 

Oh, I hear you. Silver Surfer was and still is the hardest game I've ever played...



That's followed by the Master Ninja difficulty in Ninja Gaiden...

 

Wow, I didnt think Contra was hard when I was 10 years old. I can clear it on 1 life also. Still to this day, the hardest game for me was Mike Tysons Punch Out. I finally beat it like a year or two ago. I think that was my greastest achievment.

I loved Blaster Master...

And the premise was great! Pet frog jumps into a radioactive hole and you go after it to get your beloved pet back...

 

i always loved excite bike, i could play that for hours, or RC pro am racing.....

The DC has been great! I wanted to play Caution Seaman, but no gamestops nor have I seen any torrents have it. Is it a good game? Has anyone played it?

 

All games on NES were hard. I have yet to beat Super Mario Bros., Contra, Blaster Master, Life Force, Ikari Warriors, Metal Gear, etc. I think the only games I beat were Top Gun and Zelda. For some reason, I can't win any of those games, but my brother can blow thru them without a sweat.

 

Too bad that you can't emulate N64, Sega CD, or Saturn on Dreamcast from what I've read on various Dreamcast websites

My friend who has a DC too, burned me a copy of Sega Smash pack Vol. 1. Nice collection of Genesis games, but why is the sound of the games crappy? In fact all the Genesis emulated games on the smash pack sound horrible!!

 

I was never able to beat Battletoads...........I think it's impossible

You've been reading the wrong websites. Have pretty much every N64 game rom. I actually played some night trap for sega cd emulated last night. There are a few sites with plenty of sega cd and saturn iso's. Also the Saturn is emulated by not very well. Some games work great and some games arent. They key to getting all the cd based games to work is gettin the correct bios for each system.I dont want to post links as they will break the rules, but use google.

After about 6 months owning Dreamcast I'm ironically playing games more on it than on my 360, pretty bad.

Skies of Arcadia is one of the best RPG's I've ever played.
