Anyone have a Dreamcast? Thinking of buying one
My friend is offering me his Dreamcast for $60 along with 2 controlllers, 3 VMU's, 20 games plus he said I can play burned games w/o a modchip?
Is $60 a good deal?
Is $60 a good deal?
Yes, I'd say so considering the rarity and amount of games you are getting (even though there probably were only 20 games released for DC
)
Grab it, you can always flip it for a profit on Ebay later.

NES, SNES, Genesis, etc...all outdated, but still classics and played by many.

For these alone I would get it
Well, I called my friend, he's still trying to find if he has anymore memory cards and controllers, he told me that he has a fishing controller?
Some of the games he has are Sonic adventure 1 and 2, Quake 3 Arena, Soul Caliber, Mortal Kombat Gold, NBA 2K, NFL 2K, Crazy Taxi, World Series 2K1, Shenmue 1, and Ready 2 Rumble.
So Phyton, are you serious I can get every game online? Actually, after what all these guys said I may just fork over the $60 and play it. Just realized that $60 is the cost of 1 Xbox 360 game!!!!
Yumchah what is Tech Romancer?
Too bad I didn't get into Sega systems that much after Genesis and Sega CD. I never bought Saturn and had a DC a long time ago but sold it for PS2.

I have a dreamcast w/ 4 Sega controllers, 2 VMUs and about 15 games (all d/l of course
) plus I have a couple NES and SNES ROM Cds, those are the best. Nothing like playing Mario 3 on dreamcast....

Can you also play Genesis on dreamcast too?

I might just have to justify this DC purchase. If I do get Dreamcast, I will have all the 128 bit systems
PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and then DC.

They were making Shenmue Online for PC...I thought it shoulda been released already over seas, but I don't know how that turned out.
I'm pretty sure I'll never get to beat Lan Di's ass
My favorite DC games:
Skies of Arcadia
Shenmue I and II
Grandia II
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Soul Calibur
Phantasy Star Online and PSO v. 2 - the Euro servers are still up!
Jet Grind Radio - Def. check out Jet Set Radio Future on xbox as well
God I can't think for the life of me..I'll have to check when I go home later. Those are some of my personal favorites though.
I'm confused was Phantasy Star Online and PSO v 2 are they the same or what is the difference between them?
Also, I've never played a game off the VMU ever, has any of you guys played any games from the VMU?

My bad...PSO v2 is Phantasy Star Online version 2. It's like a sequel but not really. They bumped up the max level to 200, added a bunch of new weapons, items and quests, and added a new difficulty (ultimate), which in turn added new monsters.
There were also a bunch of other small things - like lobby soccer - wtf?
I would not recommend playing PSO offline, it SUCKS. The story is meh, and the game is extremely repetetive. Online was mostly fun because of the people. It was so addicting though.
The VMU is meh....They're just lil minigames like raising chaos in Sonic Adventure. It's useful in some games, but not really a necessity in any.

Yes I am serious about the no-mod chip required. My roommate has a DC and its probably the most underrated system out there, its just seriously lacking in games. My favorite is Rez and Power Stone. You can get all of the dreamcast games you like at torrentspy.com and check under their DC section. I literally have a huge stack of games and emulators (although the emulators dont work nearly as well as the ones on the modded xbox)
I bet part of the reason that my favorite system ever went out of business is that a million cheap fucks on the internet downloaded their favorite games rather then supporting them!
!
And that reminds me - Power Stone (as mentioned above) is a great party game. It's very different and a whole lot of fun. I liked the sequel as well.

Yea dreamcast is awesome i just was playing it last week. Now how do the emulators work do you have to save them to a VMU or does it work just straight out of the CD I gotta try this.

Sega's Dreamcast had a successful release initially. However, its grasp on the console market slipped bigtime against the Sony PlayStation, the Nintendo 64 (which in itself lost a chunk of the market to the PS1), and then release of the PlayStation 2 followed by the Xbox spelled Sega's decision to end its run as a console manufacturer.
Take it and run. The dreaqmcast has earned a cult following as of late and is emanding higher than normal prices at used retailers and online auction sites. I'd say grab it, enjoy the great games, and sell it later for much much more. Shi, last summer i sold my copy of Nights for the saturn for 300 bucs. I have a buddy offering me 5 bills for my saturn and i said no.

I think that I might be in the minority of people that never throws systems out. I figure for $50 for every game and accessory that I have, I am better off keeping it. My roommates do the same thing so these are the systems we have between us:
Nintendo, Genisis, SNES, Saturn, DC, Gamecube, ps2 (with all of our ps1 games laying around), xbox, and an xbox360 that doesn't belong to us.
Out of all of those, the DC was the most underrated. Its power was just a little bit less than the ps2 but it still manages beautiful graphics. If you play it you will see that it still holds its own in certain games. That being said, GC is our most played system (smash brothers melee), and the ps2 only gets broken out for TT and GT4.
I was digging through my basement and I found NBA Jam TE...WOOT!
